As some of my mylot friends know I have been voluntarily unemployeed and seeking a more ethical work environment where I can and do respect the business' practices. I signed an Employee Agreement today and accepted a job offer, working from home!!! Living in a rural area with limited employment opportunities this makes me very, very happy. Just wanted to share it :)

Yippee! That is grreat, as Tony the Tiger would say! I am very happy for you. Now me, we live in a pretty urban area where my new job is only 5 miles away. I am very lucky. And I am at an age where I want to get out and interact with other people like my coworkers . . . nothing or no one for me here at home. Plus, I have no self discipline! Instead of working, I would be lying on the couch watching "Oprah" eating bon bons! LOL. Seriously, congratulations.

Thank you very much. I am better alone than in groups these days, different story for a different discussion. My wish is to be home working so I am happy to have it. Thanks.

Congratulations, You sound very happy about your new adventure. I wish you much luck with your new "at home" job. Don/t forget to make note of everything you have to use to accomplish the tasks you are asked to do and the space you use to work in. Even if it is just a 5 cent pencil as they add up by the end of the year. Don't want to pay a lot of taxes. Yeah, you can even claim the chair you sit in if used while conducting your business....there are lots of loopholes for home workers. Have a very prosperous day, Kowgirl

Kowgirl, thanks for the tips. I know, I've worked with a lot of independent contractors over the past year while I was an employee. I need to find a good accountant to help me keep it all together but I will. I used to be a landlord so I do know the benefits tax-wise from working at home.

That's great...So you would have a lot of information to share with someone who is new to this work at home stuff. Give the newbies a few tips and earn from these tips. You'll earn $3 per tip if your tip is accepted. This is not a referral link. I don't know if they even have one. The tips are very short so it will only take a few minutes of your time. http://www.daytipper.com

I submitted a few tips to daytipper and they have been accepted but I have yet to be paid for them. It was back in March so who knows when I will get paid lol. I much prefer it here on myLot and AC!

Hey Kudos! It's nice to hear that your happy! I remember searching for a job after being let go unfairly and I had a hard time because of my x boss letting me go. Interviewers thought I had done stuff to warrant it but oh well. I'm glad you shared it with us and good luck with it!!! ~Joey

Ex bosses can be something very bad, whether they fire you or you walk away. It's miserable to have someone like that preventing you from working, I know this too. I'm glad you were able to find a job again too.

Easy thanks for your well wishes but unfortunately after I posted this I got an email from my new employer that made me very uneasy. Between the time I originally checked this firm out and his email they had been submitted to a database of scams (literally!). This is not for me - I want no part of being involved in money laundering.

Congradulations!! I am trying to get everything set up so I can start taking calls from the house. I have always worked in a call center so it won't be anything new to me with the exception I get to play on my xbox 360 while I do it!

I'm really glad for you. I can't wait till I get to be able to work at least a few hours a day from home. I love being a housewife, but I want to feel that I am contributing something to the house also you know?

I can empathise. My reasons are much more selfish though. If I am a housewife I am also househusband, single. I need to work, that's not optional. It's the only way to make ends meet. I want to do it without the crap that can come from working in an office and without what I experienced with my last employer ever again. I worked 8 years in a major university that did follow ethical practices and set good business practices. was also doing good HR for its employees. Since relocating I have gone from the frying pan into the fire with that. I used to have a great employment record. In 3 years I've seen unemployment 3 times and worked for employers I would not recommend to anyone (and with me voluntarily leaving all). I'm sick of it. I don't need to be micromanaged. I work. I don't want to be judged by someone else's perceptions or rumors. I want to be judged for who I am and how I treat others. That doesn't happen here. I just want to work and not bother anymore.

Thank you so much for your kindness. It really does make me happy being able to stay here, no longer having to think about relocating.
