When exactly do you start calling your baby a toddler instead of a baby? Just curious. Is it when they start walking, crawling? a specific age?

I do not believe this is written in stone any where, but this is what I follow: newborn: until 3 months infant: until toddling about or 18 months toddler: when they start toddling until about 3-4 years preschooler: 4-5 years old

Just from my observations and discussions with mothers, I hear moms use the term 'toddler' when they hit two. I guess the 'Terrible Two's' is a right of passage into toddlerhood! : )

I think I statred calling my kids toddlers when they were about 2. Although I still call them my little babies. 2 is when they start leaning out and really losing the baby fat they are walking and talking. I don't think there is really a specific age when one becomes a toddler but I am not sure if it is written anywhere.

A baby becomes a toddler when it starts to toddle about, that is when it starts walking, but it does not do it very well. It happens around a year give or take a couple of months.

My son is 16 months old. I call him a toddler sometimes, but more often still refer to him as a baby. A lot of stuff I've ready refers to 12-36 month olds as toddlers, but other stuff says 18-36 months so I don't know.

yes, it is confusing... I gues the word came from the fact that they toddle when they walk, so I will just say, when they start walking. =)

I think it is when they are about 2 years old, but I am the same as some of the others and think it doesn't matter how old they are, they will always be my babies.

I think when they turn to one year old that is when they are qualified to be called toddlers or when they start to crawl.

Well my 4 year old niece will tell you she's not a baby anymore she's a big girl. She was telling everone this when she was about 2. So I think when after they start talking and walking then they are toddlers.

Supposedly a child is a toddler between the ages of 12-36 months. That´s what I have seen on websites, anyway. I would personally go with when they start to walk or "toddle" though!

I started calling my daughter a toddler when she turned 18 months. I seen the age group on the Pampers website.

When babies learn to walk they are called toddlers.Usually this term is applied to one or two year old kids.Toddler stage is very important in child's life.It is a time between infancy and childhood. This is a phase in which they learn a lot of things.During toddler stage mostly kids learn to walk, talk solve problems, relate to others and much more. One major behavior for toddler is to learn to be independent, and they are more curious and they wants to be on themselves.
