I need to rant for my boyfriend. He bought his condo when it was just a concept 2 years ago, they kept giving him estimates on when it was going to be done.
Originally it was Spring of 2006, then August, then September, then around Christmas, and finally he got a call 3 days before Christmas telling him he could do the walk-through inspection on January 15th to move in on the 19th. He was elated. He was staying with friends and really wanted to get out of their hair and into his own space.
He did the walk through inspection and a lot of stuff still needed to be done, but since he was desperate to move in ASAP he agreed they'd have to make arrangements to get everything else done. The mirror in the bathroom wasn't done, there was a cupboard door in his kitchen missing, one set of blinds wasn't hung, the painting was shoddy, the fireplace wasn't finished, the air conditioning wasn't hooked up and the t-strips weren't put down underneath the doors going into the bathrooms. He was also the 4th person into the brand new building, so he figured everything would come with time anyway.
For such a high end property management company, I figured things would be a lot more organized, but the disappointment just keeps on coming.
It was almost 2 months before they came in to put down the t-strips, hang the blinds and hang the mirror, another 2 weeks for the cupboard door, another month before they came in to START finishing the fireplace and they told him he'd have to finish the painting since the painting contractors had already been paid.
So all week he's been sitting at home in his NOT air-conditioned unit in the hot weather waiting for the air-conditioning guy to show up because the guy doesn't take appointments, and every day without fail, he falls through. He finally got fed up, called the on-site manager who GUARANTEED it would get done today between noon and 4.
My boyfriend decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and set up and appointment with the fireplace guy to come finish the work on the fireplace. He booked that appointment for noon.
As of this writing it is half past 2 in the afternoon, and neither guy has shown up nor returned his calls.
What's even more annoying is the air-conditioning guy complains that he has too many units to do in too short a time, but sees no problem with standing there complaining about the amount of units he has to finish for 30 minutes while no work gets done.
He can't hire anyone else without having to pay for it himself, instead of out of the upfront fee he already paid the property management company, but he's really had it with 'their people'. I can't blame him. He's been a resident there for almost 6 months.
To make matters worse, though – in those 6 months, 8 windows on the first floor got smashed out late one Saturday night, he's on the 4th floor so besides waking us, it didn't really affect him, but last week his storage unit in the underground parking lot got broken into. Over $2000 worth of stuff was nabbed (2 other units were also broken into) and since the property management company is SO organized, obviously there weren't any security cameras yet.
I have a half a mind to write them a letter telling them how disgusted I am with their management skills and that I would never buy a Carrington condo.

Your boyfriend must have the patience of JOB. I hope he's asked for credit on his monthly paymemts for the inconveience. I would start looking elsewhere to live. If management is that bad from the start, I don't see it getting any better.
