The other day I got a letter from Quebec, finally informing me that my application for disability pension went through. Two and a half years ago, my doctor told me that because my arthrosis in my back and my pain, I should no longer work. I applied in April 2005 for disability pension. I was rejected in August 2005 and had to re-apply. I didn't hear ANYTHING for a very long time, until last January when they asked me to see their own doctor for an exam to confirm the diagnosis and check the progression. A couple months ago they made me go to another doctor. I understand that they had to be complete to prevent fraud, which is nonetheless rampant in the system. Anyway... They finally approved my claim. Now I am going to be able to catch up on a lot of backed up bills and maybe we can also stop eating from the food bank and buy REAL groceries. But God is good all the time, and He has taken very good care of me through this long and painful wait. The pain may not stop... but I am not complaining about that. I just deal with it. It's life now. And there is always still folks in the world who are way less fortunate than me. I pray that God blesses them in wonderful ways everyday as well.

I am so glad you finally got what was due to you, I know how hard the wait is. My now husband had to wait for like 4 years and kept getting turned down , but he didnt give up
I understand the fraud and all but it seems like the ones who dont need it get it and the ones who do need it have to wait forever.

Thanks so much. I was getting so tired of the battle. It's a great relief.
As you said, fraud of this sort is everywhere. I have acquaintances that I know for a fact are cheating the system and it made me really angry to know they were collecting while my family was just scraping by.

That is wonderful news- I’m glad you have such a positive outlook on the situation. Dealing with government agencies can be tough. I had to deal with workers comp once- and that was a struggle- I too understand that many people abuse the system- so I blame the people who commit fraud and get benefits that they do not need- they are the reasons that the process is so long for those that really need it. I’m super glad that you are accepted and will be able to get some extra cash to pay some of those bills.

Congratulations. I've just started the paperwork. Hope I don't have to wait as long as you did. Congratulations again, and enjoy some fresh fruit! (Food banks are good but rarely provide fresh produce.)
