Well, the weekend is about here, and my nerves are about gone.
Sunday, the church where my husband has been preaching for the last few weeks will vote on whether or not to ask him to be their full time pastor.
I try very hard not to let the nerves get the best of me. I have asked God to calm me, that if He intends for Mike to be the pastor, that it will happen and if not, there is somewhere else out there for us.
I feel so at home there, and have since the first time we walked through the doors, even when we were just filling in.
Several of the members have mentioned that it just felt natural for us to be there.
How do you calm your nerves during a stressful situation?

thank you for this. I felt all the prayers this weekend. My nerves were immediately calmed almost as soon as the first discussion posted and i knew that prayers were going up on my behalf.

Strong faith in God. If you'l leave up everything in him you don;t need to worry at all.
If God's will is for your family to stay there, then good if not...maybe there is another place the needs you to a plant a new plants there and to be nurtured.
God has always his ways and purpose for all of these things.
God Bless you and your family

thanks for this. I too believe that God's will be done in each and every situation of our lives. Unfortunately, that doesn't always keep my human body from getting nervous. lol

My dad is a pastor as well, and even though it has been a while since he started a new church (he's been at his current church for 9 years), I remember the nerves. I'm just going to pray pray pray for you, that whatever the decision is, you both will be able to be happy and at peace with it.

oh cool! I love that area. My daughter is considering going to school at Southwestern Christian in Bethany.
They have already offered her a partial scholarship and she's only just now becoming a Senior. If she can raise her ACT score up just 3 more points, she will get an even better one.

Thanks so much for this. It's been really different going in as a potential pastor versus a potential youth pastor. Where is your dad pastoring?

thank you so much for your prayers. I am going to do another post in just a few minutes. I'm trying to catch up on a few things here at work because I was out of the office all week last week with my mother's illness. The new post will have the latest updates!

Breathing slow deep and steady is my best advice.
You have the answer in Trust in the Lord and accept his blessings.
I think you just have to be certain that his will shall be done.
God Bless you and your family!!

I actually had a great weekend, and certainly felt all of the prayers. Thank you for that hedge of protection. We have been praying for God's will to be done in this situation for many weeks.

I am responding to this after I heard the news that your husband is selected to be the new Pastor. God is wonderful. When we are nervous, it is sign that you are docile to the Spirit of God and not presumptuous. I am so happy for you.

thanks for this. Yes, we have tried all of our ministry to be still and listen to the will and spirit of God. It is hard when the human side want to run ahead.

Hi , well I really feel for you . I have been through this many times in my life. My husband is a Pastor and so we go through this process each time we move. I am not sure if I ever really got calmed down until I heard the results of the vote. We just always tried to commit it to he Lord, knowing He was in charge and knew what was best for us. Some churches said no , and we realized after wards that we were glad they did . I guess during the waiting period we /I just tried to keep our minds busy doing other things. It is much easier for the husband to do this because they just get up and go to work and seem to put everything else out of their minds.( at least for the most part) . Take care and do let me know what happens .

Do you ever feel when they are doing the questioning part of the process that they're serving dinner and you're the main course?

Mike and I and the girls certainly appreciated all the prayers that were sent up for us this weekend. They were felt, at least by me anyway, as I was not nearly as nervous on Sunday as I thought I would be.

I don't know how to calm down. Just know that it is in God's hands and He will make sure His will is done. In something this important I really feel that God will lead the people to vote as He wants them to. And, if that isn't the right place for you, He has something much better planned. Though it sounds to me that you've found the right place. :)

Yes, I too feel like we are meant to be there. I felt at home the minute we walked through the doors, and we weren't even there then for more than a pulpit fill in.

I would spend a lot of time in prayer and ask God to calm you like you said. You just have to trust that he will. One thing about this situation that IS exciting is that you have to trust God completely for what will happen next in your life. You are seeking his will in this situation and need to obedient and in prayer. A favorite couple of verses that come to mind is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." He will.

Oh I love these verses! They are some of my favorite scriptures. It's calming to know that God is in charge of everything that goes on in my life. I wish the human side would learn to follow the spiritual side better! I think this is something that we all struggle with though isn't it?
