Who is R.A.B. who reached the Locket Horcrux before Dumbledore and Harry?

I just finished the Half Blood Prince and am still wondering who this R.A.B. is who has reached the locket Horcrux before Dumbledore and Harry. The popular verdict amongst HP fans is that it is Regulus Black, Sirius' brother who had joined Voldy's team and decided to quit. Voldy promptly got him murdered. What's your guess on this? Do you think it is Regulus or do you think a new character would emerge? Cheers! Ram

That is who I suspect it is. The reason I think it's him is because he turned back to the good side right before he was killed by none other than Voldemort himself - I think.

That's true but if Voldemort found out he knew about the horocruxes he might have done the deed himself. And Sirius didn't know about that. Either way though really...it could still be Regulus.

there is a big probability that RAB is regulus black. i hope so.. lets just wait till HP 7 come out in the market to know the answer :)

Jo said that no new charectors will be introduced in book 7 so its definitely gotta be frm da persons v knw... May be its just not a single person n a group of ppl just like marauders....

That's a thought. Quite a possibility that it is a group rather than a single person... but then the boat would not have allowed for more than one magical person to go through!! Cheers! Ram

I'm also very intrigued by R.A.B. but I don't know any Regulus Black. Did he appear in The Order of the Phoenix 'coz that is the only HP book I haven't read.

Regulus Black was the brother of Sirius Black. The character does not appear in any of the HP books just yet, but has been discussed by Sirius Black when he describes his family tree with Harry in the Order of the Phoenix. Cheers! Ram

The only character there that I can think of right now is Regulus Black. Unless somebody else we haven't met has the same initials did it. :-)
