Summer time usually means concert season around here. Lots of bands are playing and touring all over. We used to go to concerts all the time, then we had kids. LOL I was planning on getting tickets for my boyfriend for father's day, but the money never came through like I planned. How about you? Do you enjoy going to concerts? Or would you raqther just stay home and listen to the music in private?

Oh I do enjoy a great concert. But we rarely go to any. I've been to five I think. Two were ICP, one was Bush, another I can't remember the band (went with some friends), and the other was when I was in middle school my dad scored us excellent tickets to see Diamond Rio & Sawyer Brown (use to like Sawyer when I was younger) with backstage passes. I've want to go see Christina Aguilera and No Doubt but I've been unsuccessful at it. They haven't been anywhere close enough. Well No Doubt did get about 3-4 hours away but I couldn't get anyone to go with me. The bad thing is No Doubt was touring with Bush when I went to see Bush - they were extremely fresh on the scene but I had a chorus concert that night that I couldn't miss - was our final exam grade - so we got there just in time for the Goo Goo Dolls (I think) to rap up their set before Bush came on. And No Doubt was the opener. I was so mad a few weeks later when I heard No Doubt and fell in love with their music! LOL

this last year i bet ive been to more concerts than i have done over the last 20 years. We have a great venue opened which is putting on a lot of retro acts, recently i have seen Nils Lofgren (Bruce Springsteen's guitarist) Stiff little fingers (3 times) Billy Brag, Joan Armatrading and I am going to see the Saw Doctors later this month blessed be

There is only one person that I have gone to see in concert over the last 5 years and that is Melissa Etheridge and only if I can get into the first 10 rows. She is amazing to watch live and I'll continue to make the effort to get to her concerts. When I was younger I would go to concerts regularly and sit wherever the tickets were and sometimes try to get better seating as the concert went on. Now as I'm older there are not as many people that I have interest in seeing and I certainly don't enjoy the bumping and banging that goes on at a concert with the young folks today. Nevermind that the prices have just gotten too out of hand! I'll stay at home and listen to my favourite bands on the stereo or go enjoy a good musical play, that's much more my style these days.

I love going to concerts but like you since having my daughter we don't go to many anymore. When I lived in Florida and was single I was going to concerts all the time. They had these great outdoor concerts with some awesome bands. It was a lot of fun. Hopefully as my daughter gets older we'll be able to start going again and maybe even bring her to a few of the calmer concerts.

When they're little it's hard. Work on cultivating good taste in music now so that when they're teens you'll like the same stuff. I went to more shows with my son between the ages of about 12 & 18 than I had in my life previously. My daughter unfortunately likes horrible music and I just don't see myself going to as many with her as I did with him.

Are you kidding? I look forward to every concert that I can go to! I have a kid now so it's hard, but summertime is the best for huge outdoor venues! Here in Seattle there is a big event ever Labor Day weekend called Bumbershoot. Some good acts are playing this year, not a lot like Bonnaroo, but still some good ones. You've never heard Modest Mouse until you've seen them live! Great, great band!
