India

Indian Corn also known as Maize is very popular grain throughout the world. We use it as a basic food grain to make breads and pop corns. It is also a main source of bourbon whisky. Kellogs corn flakes are very popular breakfast cereals. Do you use this wonder grain for any other purposes?

In the philippines it is grown as fodder for livestock and to make corn syrup and a lot of corn based junk food that a lot of my countrymen enjoy. I especially like feeding maize to my chickens and my pigeons it gives them a lot of muscle and makes them more healthier.

If you are speaking of the mulit colored corn that we know as Indian corn then NO. We use it for decoration. We have specially bred corn probably yellow that is used for Corn flakes etc. If you speak of the yellow corn and the term you use is from another culture then we may be more alike that is apparent. Corn is a regular part of our diet from succotash, corn flakes, cooking oil, corn muffins etc. Southerners in the states make mush with corn. If very versatile.

Multi coloured corns are not grown in India. I meant the yellow corns, out of which flakes are made. We do have American Corn Outlets here, where we get a cupful of steamed and spiced corns for 0.30 cents.

I love to eat maize or corn. We have lots of them here in my country too and one could actually buy them along the streets. They are one of the things that vendors sell casually on the streets and malls. I love it boiled and then add some butter for flavor. Yummy!

Here also we get ready boiled corns on the pavements, sprinkled with chilli and salt powder and few drops of lemon juice. They are good to eat when it rains.

Where I live we eat rye bread or wheat. Indian corn we call Mais and we feed it to the cattle. Yes, there is Kellogs cornflakes in the stores but our usual cereal is oatmeal. One can buy corn canned or fresh as a vegetable for corn on the cob, it is a specialty that we do not eat often. Cornmeal we find in specialty stores who cater to foreigners. Corn is just not popular here.

I think we use it the same way too, I am not really sure at all, though. I guess I have to study up a little bit on that.

Ethenol, fuel made from maize, it burns cleaner than fossil fuels. Corn tortillas for tacos. And the cob can be made into a corn cob pipe.

My grandpa used to make moonshine from Maize. I am Native American (Cherokee & Blackfoot Sioux) I love Maize, there are so many uses for it. I like to see how many I can actually do. In my state where I live they are building their first refinery for Ethenol E-85. Under a co op I want to grow for them, to make a profit.
