Are you afraid of getting old?

You know as each year passes I realize that my perception of age has changed a lot from when I was 13 or 16 even. I still feel young and full of life. I personally am not worried about getting old, as I see it I feel like I am becoming more and more liberated with each birthday that passes. Although, as I approach 30 and so do most of my friends, I have noticed that many are completely concerned about aging and about hitting the big 3-0. And I wonder how many other people are worried about this? And why are you worried?

I am welcoming aging but I also seem to be oblivious to it. I am still young but I had stopped counting my years at age 21. I have to think for a second when people ask me how old I am. Also, I seem to loosen up the older I get. I was a very stressed child to the point of having pain in my body from stress. I love getting older and if I can live to be 100 and still be happy, then that's great. The alternative to getting old is dying. I don't know how I'll feel about it ten or twenty years down the line, but for now getting old sounds pretty good.

I agree with you. I think the older I get the freer I become. And I love it. I grew up in a very strict background which caused me to be so full of stress and have that inability of truly living and just enjoying my life. Every day I feel like I know myself more and love myself more. I look forward to aging as well.

That's what I think too. I don't think 30 is old at all. Hell I don't think 60 is old. But I clearly remember being a kid and hearing that somene was 30 it was just like old to me. Its funny how as you age and see how much life you have and how vibrant you feel your perception of age really begins to change. Thanks for the comment.

I am not afraid of getting old. Sure, most of us would like to stay young and healthy forever. But the way I see it, I'm just happy to be alive. And being alive means you must grow older, too. You can't stop growing older, and neither can anyone else, so the best thing you can do is be happy about it, and make the most of it!

I am not terrified or afraid of getting old as nothing is permanent in this world. Every living thing has to die. If you buy a new car, its paint and interior also gets dull with passage of time, no matter how much you take care. So one must not worry and live life according to his / her religon and enjoy every little happiness and remain thankful to God in every condition he is going through in life.

I am not worried about getting older as such. But I do worry about how my body will be when I'm elderly. I don't like the idea of not being able to do things like I do now. I know it is part and parcel of getting older, but I think it will be something that frustrates me as I age.

i do not think of that ever. I am in my mid-30's but have not noticed any difference in my body...I still feel very much as I was 15 years ago...and I still enjoy life just like I used to so getting old is not a problem, we will all grow old and eventually die...that's how things really are nobody can change that except when immortality will become a reality...then the cycle of life will be changed...coz you will have the option not to grow old at all, which I think will never come true. what do you think? will it have a chance to become a reality?

I am not sure really that I am afraid of getting old so much as I am surprised by it. I shock myself when I look to my hands and see how wrinkly they have become, how much they look like my mothers hands.

I'm not afraid of getting old per se, I'm just afraid of getting old and NOT accomplishing all that I think that I should do. Like having a successful business, getting married and having children among other things.

I'm afraid of everything getting old, like the part of the family you won't see anymore, the things you used to have when you were young, the different music, the city that will be totally different, something like this... I'm not afraid, as you, to get old... I like to think about the person I was and the one I am now, and comparing I can see that I get better each bithday... I'm really curious to see the person I'll become when I get to the 30's.

My motto is that I will age but, I will never grow old. Live life to the fullest and enjoy each day.

I wouldn't say that I am worried about getting old as much as I don't like the idea about it . I remember when I was younger thinking that at the age I am today that when I reached it that I would somehow feel old but the truth is I don't feel any different other then the fact that my children have more energy then me and when I look in the mirror , I can now see some gray hairs lol . I still remember all I did when I was younger and it doesn't seem like it was all that long ago to make me feel that I am getting older , yet the truth is with each year going by we are getting older weather we like it or feel it , or not . It is going to happen and worrying about it won't change anything so it is not something that I give a whole lot of thought to .

I'm afraid of getting old. I'm 18. I am afraid that people will no longer treat you as a child. And they have more expectations to you. When you make mistake, people will no longer think "he is still young" and forgive you easily.

I honestly never thought this process of aging would worry me. However, as I am rapidly approaching my 40th birthday, I find that it does concern me. It is not a concern for health reasons. I think it is a concern because I have gone through some life changes recently and it makes me feel like I am starting over. 40 is too old to start over, at least that is how I feel. cheers,

many people eventually are worried about aging because of whar they see around them, to be precise, the elderly aging 60 and up. for example, hu would lyk to end up lyk a semi vegetable? or the likes we see in our surroundings. i have nothing against it, because its just the way it is. all we can do is accept the fact. in my opinion, all we can do now is to live our lives 1. with pride and integrity 2. without regrets 3. and learn in our mistakes 4. learn the essence of life, it's the gift given to us... treasure it and live ur lyf to the fullest (just lyk elusive butterfly said), and be contented, it will take away your worries... aside from wealth, the story of our life's lesson is a treasure that we can pass to the next generation.. hahaha, but we our not quite there yet, we are still young, hihihi!!
