we are having a big problem with ticks and our dog. we bath her about every other day with a tick shampoo and have a tube of meds to put on her once a month but it don't seem to be helping. seems everyday we find more on her and my hubby has to get them off. she has very thick hair so its hard sometimes. what can we do to keep them off of her? any ideas would be great.

Dog - A dog swimming.
Ticks are really problems with dogs and sometimes shampoo, etc. are not effective. Why not try to let your dog swim in the pond for sometime? I think the fleas or whatever could not survive long in water. Dogs are good swimmers.

i do keep her hosed down but around here i am not sure where there is a place we could take her to swim. we haven't had a problem with fleas its just the ticks. she really don't care for the water either. when we wash her she really don't like it a lot but she will stay right there. thanks a bunch

Other than keeping your pets inside there really isn't much else that you can do besides putting the meds on them. We have 3 cats and will have to get some meds for them to keep the ticks off. They really get slammed by them this time of year.

I am also using frontline spray and I can say that the product is very effective in the treatment and prevention of infestation by fleas and ticks. You dont need to bath ur dog every other day.. it's not good for them. Frontline is active for 4 weeks so you dont have to keep on repeating the application. U'll just have to spray it to ur pet once a month. Although kind of expensive compared to other products, its worth it.. hope this helps.:)

i guess i need to see about the frontline. is it from the vet or a store? we have not seen a flea at all it is just the ticks. i did not know it was not good for her to have a bath that often. i just figured it was better then the ticks. why isn't it good for them? thanks for the advice
