Go through your home and collect items to sell. price them and set them out in the front lawn on tables and hang out the sign. Take the money from everyone who has decided that your junk is their treasure and then after everyone has stopped coming - count the money!!!!!

It's a good idea in theory, but with the advent of eBay, I've noticed garage saling isn't as popular now as it used to be. Also, check your local regulations on garage sales. A lot of places will charge you to get a permit (my city charges $18). It's a $250 fine to not have a permit. At my last garage sale I made $50.. it would have cost me to have a garage sale if I got caught without the permit. :)

we only need permits in my local area if we set up every weekend. so you can have one every other weekend and not get in trouble.

Agreed with a bit of work you can indeed make a bit of money conducting a garage sale or yard sale. One discussion I reponded to made 1000 dollars. Worth it normally. In my case I will go to a garage sale or more like a church rummage sale for better deals. Anyway, I have to go so to replace all I lost in a fire and that is a job in itself. Thanks for urging others to clean up and clear out and thus make a bit of money as a reward.
