What's wrong with nudity?

Here's the question of the day...how come the land my house sits on and my home are considered "private property", but yet I can't sunbathe topless in my own backyard (which has a 5 foot privacy fence)without the old neighbor lady calling the cops to complain? Like it's my problem her husband (in his 70's) has to be a pervert and get caught staring out the window. I wasn't harming anybody, I was just enjioying the sunshine! In my own yard! I pay an obscene amount of taxes to live here and here comes the cops asking me to cover myself! It's not like I was in public! Am I wrong here?

Deffiently just because she is a prude dosnt mean you canit sun bathe in your own back garden, she is just paranoid that her husband will be looking at a attractive woman topless and you to will run away together lol its just a woman being jealous because she hasnt got what you got if it came down to the law your right the police couldnt do nothing about it if it was outside your propertly its a law breaking offense but because you are on your own property its nothing to do with anyone else , thats why the police didnt arrest you for it.

Your neighbor is stuck with her husband. She can't go out and get a job, can she? Oh yes, you know she can't so she has to live with the creep. So she's keeping him from temptation - you. What if she had her grandchildren or great grandchildren with her and they were staring out the window? Now if you were out in the country with no one around it would be different, but in the city or a town even with a high fence, there is always a chance that someone will peek over, a helicopter with policemen looking for bad guys might fly overhead. So be a little decent even if you can get a good tan, have blond hair, am tall and slim, etc.

My neighbors are in their 70's! And I'm not blonde nor do I have a supermodel body! As far as the childern thing goes, I see what you're saying, but I have a privacy fence, and they should monitor what their kids would be doing.

No Way!!! Come on, there's so nothing wrong with that, hell it's your own back yard, damn... okay, when it's warm out, and no one's home, or it's just my hubby and i, i go out and dry in the sun after i shower. I've never had the cops called on me, and i don't have a fence, that's just pathetic, i would be talking to those neighbors telling them to mind their own damn business. god this is supposed to be a free world, talk about pathetic...

I actually had the same thing happen to me although I was cutting the front lawn naked on a riding lawnmower...but still. All joking aside, I really don't understand why people have such a hang-up with the naked body. You should be allowed to go topless on your own property if you so desire. I'd have filed a complaint against him for being a peeping tom

I am not into sunbathing, topless or otherwise but have no issue with those who want to do it. If my next door neighbour was sunbathing topless and my hubby saw it, I wouldn't really care, it's not like she's coming up to him and bouncing her chest in his face. I think it's really unacceptable that you're not allowed to do as you please in your own home, as you say it's your private property and you have a fence around your garden anyway. I wasn't aware that you couldn't sunbathe topless in your own garden. I walk around my home completely butt naked sometimes because I feel like it and so does my hubby. Our net curtains are always drawn so there's not much likelihood of anyone peering through and seeing us but if they did it would be because they're going out of their way to look in through our windows and they'd be trespassing! Sorry you're going through this, I don't know what to suggest hun. x

Haha! I only just read this! Did he think you were paying him a huge compliment lol. Ah yer am still about, havn't spoken to you in soo long, how have you been?? I had a car accident today, I went into the back of someone, coming up to the round about. We exchanged details and everything and then at the end the guy was like 'there's my number, don't be alarmed if I answer it in a funny way, it's just my job'. I thought how wierd? So I was like 'why, you a bit aggressive on the phone or something?' and he was like 'Nah I'm a police officer'. I was like 'ohh sh*t!'. He was so young looking, I thought he was younger than me so he must have been a rooky. His car looked pretty alright though so hopefully no damage to pay for!

You are NOT wrong! I think your civil liberties have been infringed here. Seriously. That dirty old man is the one who should be hauled off for being a peeping Tom. And that stupid old broad is probably mad at you because she can't get a rise out of him and YOU CAN!!! LOL! I don't see anything wrong with you enjoying the sun in your OWN property. Maybe you should have advised her to push him out the bathroom window so he can see you better! Talk about a topsy-turvy world. It is your privacy that was violated and the cops talk to you???!!! ;-[

Jacked up ain't it? Oh well, the for sale sign is planted in their front yard, so I'm hoping for some more liberal neighbors that have better things to do than crank their heads out of the second story bathroom window.

I don't think you are wrong at all! Did the cops actually come to your house? With your 5 foot fence I don't see how the old geezer could have seen you! LOL

That makes no sense. You should be able to do that in your own backyard. Hell, if you want to waltz down main street that way it is still ok.

There was an older woman living in a high rise and she called the cops saying that her neighbor across the street was going around his house without any clothing on. When the cops arrived they asked her to show where the man lived. She took them into the kitchen and pointed out an apartment across the streeet from her. The cops looked out the window and saw a man walking around topless and told the woman that they did not see anything wrong with him walking around topless. She said no no you have to get up on the counter so that your head is almost hitting the celling to see that he has no clothing on.

Did the cops actually tell you that you had to cover up?? I live in Texas and a friend has a similar problem with her neighbors. She actually called the cops first to ask if she could continue before the neighbor ever called the first time, they told her that they could not actually tell her what to do unless it escalated to a disturbing the peace level. Because of the precautions she took (the privacy fence, a large tilt umbrella, etc) she is on record for doing due diligence to maintain peace. You might look into this further if it really is something you feel strongly about.

Yes they did, they said as a "consideration to my complaining neighbors" LOL Anyway, they sold their house and are moving July 20. I was hoping a young family with kids would move in, but nope, an eldely lady bought it. Dunno what she needs with a house that size, but I hope she doesn't have the habit of craning her neck out the bathroom window!! LOL

Yeah I think you should be able to sunbathe topless. You should definitly look into the laws in your town and even if it says you can't you should appeal and take it to court because you have the right to do what you want on your own property like sunbathe topless. Good luck.

this happened to me. OK i was making a point. I was on holiday with friends in Italy and was next door to a woman with a husband in his 70s. Well i went topless on the sun terrace and drew quite a crowd from 4 Italian pensioners. I didnt mind and smiled politely as they gazed at me. Their wives, on the other hand got really upset. One started shouting at me, i later learnt that she was calling me a Putana, apparently not a nice name. Well I sat up and asked her what her problem was, she shouted back and this went back and forth for about half a hour. Niether of us understood what the other was saying but apparently she turned the air blue. All this was being observed by a few men and quite a crowd had gathered before some public minded citizen called the police. In short, i was deported and would have being charged with a lude public display if i had not left the day afterwards, lol. It is the 21st century, if people are so over sensitive, maybe they shouldnt look. blessed be

Well its a very difficult question for me...!! at one side your right that ..YOU PAY FOR YOUR PRIVACY...!! Still there is no privacy at place. But there are some unwritten rules for women in our society that they cannot be over exposed!! You cannot help it ..!! Bloody hell why can't these men close their eyes if we are really bugging them so much?? I think its unjustice ..! People can pop up and stare at you any where and any time and you cannot help that...! YOu are in your own house ..and still you cannot make yourslelf free there !! NExt time try ...complaing about that bad old guy first..!! before that old lady complaing about you ..you complain about that old guy that he disturbs you a lot and stares at you and make you fell uneasy ..!!

Did the cops say you had to cover up? That's outrageous. I was under the impression if your yard was not easily viewable from the street, you could do what you like in it.

If you were in your own backyard, you own the property and you pay obscene amount of taxes I would have told the cops that were there that they need to go next door and arrest the old man for being a peeping tom. I honestly think that neighbors need to mind their own business and not worry about what's over the fence and worry about whats in their own yard. that makes me so darn mad! You weren't harming anyone and if the old lady was offended she should have just turned her husbands perverted head or hit him with a skillet. It's her problem, not yours.

Nah your not wrong! That stinks that they ruined it for you. It's your yard, I don't see what the issue is, although I guess the 70 year old woman was jealous her hubby was watching you. ;) I cant believe the police came!! That stinks!!

You are Right!......I'd raise proper Hell about this. Do it again, and refuse to cover up when the Cops come, I'd go to Jail (as a protest) (In Canada its Perfectly Legal for women to go topless in Public. (We have equal rights, for the sexes) The only restriction is that her toplessness must not cause public nuisance. (like, if she was causing a traffic disruption)
