There are shows I don't care for, but if my children enjoy them and I can find some sort of educational value in them, I will allow them to watch them occasionally. I also don't let anyone in my family know which shows I don't like because if I did, they would make sure every gift to my children was something related to the disliked show.

I agree. It is usually just my sister who does it and I usually regift the item to her kids later. She knows it is going to happen, but she continues to do it any way.

Caillou is one of the shows that I will not allow in my home beacuse of the way he acts. He is whiny and ill tempered in general. I think it is quite subtle but the kiddos will still pick it up a bit and that is nothing I want to deal with.

I'm not a huge fan of Barney or the Dooldebobps either.. i Hate Teletubbies and will not allow it in my house, as it really offers nothing besides "entertainment" (although I could not imagine my child sitting through it, I'm sure there are many out there who are entranced by it.) Anyways. I don't like Max and Ruby, She treats her little brother badly, and I think it sends a bad message to children. So that is not allowed in our home either (especially now that my oldest has a little brother). I think it's not only our poragative to choose what our children watch, but our responsibility. I hate to see parents just plop their children down, and let them have complete control over their tv choices.
