I mean, cockroach. ha ha! This may sound yuck to many but I just feel like discussing it. While searching for some information about cockroach, I have read in Wikipedia that in some of the earliest writings, cockroaches are used as medicine. They just grind it up with oil and then boil it. Eww.. This sounds really yuck. A cockroach for a medicine? haha! no way! I am glad that I don't have any and wish to not have any of the list of ailments that the cockroach has for a medicine like open wounds and gynecological disorders. We all know that these cockroaches are long living creatures. They can out stand the nuclear bomb which is heck I don't know how it feels to them he he but killing them through our own little ways may be easy. Now, if you see a cockroach in your house or in any places, do you kill it or you just scream at your highest pitch? Do you just kick it to let it stay away from you or you murder it ha ha!

Hello, mskzalameda ,when i see the small cockroaches,i will kill them by my hands, but i will not kill the big ones by bare hands becasue they are too disgusting,i will use the vacuum cleaner to suck it in,i will let the cleaner running for ten seconds to make sure the roahces have been killed. But i do not know how to deal with the flying ones because i cannot catch them by the vacuum cleaner. I know some of the cockroaches are for medical purpose, but it should not be the ones you see at home or at the gutters.

there is a specie of this cockroach which is very poisonous. its color is very much different from the common one we see at home. cockroaches are really to be feared because, once they get to be plenty, they will suck some blood from us while we are asleep and then we will wake up with this big sore which feels so hot, looks so red and very itchy. i had experienced this in a house where i rented a room once. i didn't know that there were plenty of these insects there as the house looked so clean an insect free. well, you will know that i tattered the entire room with cockroach killer.

Oh really, cockroaches will suck our blood? But it seems that they will get immunity from the insect sprays,we have to change the brands of the sprays regulary or they will not be effective in killing them.

You Know I have great respect for the creepy bug. I really believe there has to be some purpose for its existence even. But I do not like any bug in my home. I am faithful to have my home sprayed for all pests twice a year.

Yes all creatures have their own purpose and I agree, as long as they don't pest the houses, they can live he he!

I haven't seen a cockroach since one day in Sunday School, a girl walked in, took off her coat, and a cockroach crawled out. That was the last time I saw one, and I was 12. If I see any more in the future I'll kill them. Those suckers multiply and spread germs and diseases! : )

She was a sweet teenager, but she came from a very poor home. They didn't exterminate at her house because they couldn't afford it. She was from a single parent home so financially they weren't well off. I've got to think though that I would go buy a couple cans of Raid. At least that is something to kill a few of them! I felt sorry for her and I felt bad that I was so repulsed by it. Everyone acted like it was no big deal.

I haven't seen a roach in years. we briefly had them when a next door neighbor moved out and let me tell you they didn't last long with us.we stomped, sprayed, and finally got those black traps where the roaches eat the stuff and take it back to the nest where is kills the rest. they are so nasty

I will immediately reach for the insecticide and empty half the content in panic until ?I don't even see a feeler moving. I am terrified of them. In fact in the middle of the night on my way to the toilet, if I encounter one, and if I can wait till the morning, I'd just make a U-turn back to my bed.

cockroache - In nature cockroaches have an important role in the disposal of ecosystem detritus.
If they are not a real nuisance, and if their activities are limited to the garden or the wild, leave them alone. In nature they have an important role in the disposal of ecosystem detritus. Use all your best efforts not to offer them a way into your house. A clean house, without many crevices, and without poorly stored food, rarely suffers from large cockroach invasions. Attempt to control them only if their populations increase beyond that of some occasional visible visits. - Walter Dioni www.microscopy-uk.org.uk

i used to work in a pest control company befoe i joined the call center industry . there are 3main types of cockroaches depending on the soure in the philippine: german , american and oriental cockroaches. the small ones are usually founf in the pantries are the germands and reproduce fast. the americans are the big ones we usally see would flr in our houses at night and the oriental are the ones that are from the drainages.buy the gel type of bait available in the supermarket than the spray ones because the gel types makes the cockroach sterile and unable to propagate.BUT STILL SANITATION AND CLEANLINESS IS THE BOTTOM LINE .

i don't encounter much problems with cockroaches at home. during the mating season, we hardly see some flying around the house nor in the yard. maybe this is because we have some chickens around and the chickens eat them up. as of this writing, we have a few pairs of white bantam chickens. they are good at keeping the insect population within control. before, when there used to be plentiful of these cockroaches, i use pesticides to bring their population down. i placed 1-2-3 household insecticide in their hiding places after having bombarded it with baygon cockroach killer. for our yard, i used malathion and a brand which has been banned from the philippine market by now. it was necessary then when we just moved into this place in 1983. there were too much of these perceived to be injurious to health insects around.

Yes I do. I always try to get them. They are such pests. But unfortunately, it is not always easy to catch them. They can run quite fast when alerted and their size and flexibility make it easy for them to escape you.

Hey thats a vital information you have provided about cockroaches.I hate them because sometimes they fly around and terrifies me.Its a dirty insect and smells bad. We have stored many unused items in our laft and while cleaning it we find many cockroaches. We used insecticides to kill them before cleaning. They enter the dress cupboard and hides there and leaves waste on dresses which is not easy to remove.Hence i use napthalene balls in my cupboard to get rid of this. I kill them if i see somewhere in my house.

maybe that's why some chinese people eat them - but the cleaner version of cockroaches i guess. but still, i find it yuck yuck yuck! anyway, i am a cockroach murderer! hihi. i am guilty of it. but i am not that kind of person who will scream whenever i see cockroaches. when i see one running on the floor, i step on them. and if they ran away escaping my steps, i chase them. and i know i look funny... chasing cockroaches but i feel good whenever i kill one. gosh. i hate seeing them around in any place there is. ... anne

well sure of course i kill them cause i hate insects with a passion. i have never read any research on cockroaches but with what you have written i am still not convince that i should not kill them. GOD i hate when they multiply which they do pretty quick and in that case i guess i would still continue to kill them

No, I hate cockroaches. When I see one I try to dodge it the est I can...whether I have to run away, climb up the wall, jump on the ceiling, or get in my car and drive away! lol. I think it is icky to squish bugs and I don't like doing it, I just leave them alone. They are scary and gross.
