How important are family values?

How important are family values? For me they are important but certain family's allow them to get in the way which create problems. Generally I think a decent balance is good. such as eating as a family and doing activities together aswell as respecting your family even when they are wrong or even right. I hope some family's bring them back (I know I will) I want to be a family much like how American films are and some brits say it's a fake. ~Joey

The American family isn't fake. I am sure our families are very much like other families. FAMILY IS EVERYTHING!!

Oh I know vickie.. Many British people I know always refer to it as that though. I know that they're closer and do more things like go to the park but it's different here. (not as relaxing) Family is everything! ~Joey

How many families honestly all sit around a table for dinner now? Without the television being on, being disturbed by mobile phones or the kids wanted to have their dinner in their bedrooms not wanting to stop their favourite playstation game? Technology is ruining family values and we are all in a rush rush rush type of life that family values are well and truly put on the back burner, sad but true

america is no better than anywhere else hon, a film is a film each family has it's own set of family values, eating at the table together is a nice one but you can't always to it with hectic schedules etc. but you can also be honest and good people even if you eat on the floor. make your own family values that mean something to you and forget about the rest

Family values is always important and should be observed in every household. It is up to each one the kind of values they like to instill on every members of the family. I grew up in a family where proper values is not properly taught to my sibling and me. I changed all of that when I have my girls. I make sure to discipline them everything until it sink in my girl's brain. It is not easy and yet should be neglected.

We Filipinos have a high strong sense of familism, so that everything we do begins and ends with our families. In my little family (I have only two grown up kids), we have a few values which are non-negotiable. You mentioned activities like eating together as a family...that's great because we also observe that. We also go to mass on Sunday's together, and do a lot of other things together like going out for groceries, eating out, celebrating, going on a vacation, praying, playing with our dogs, etc. They help us bond and interact with each other. For us they are important because they keep us together.. Don't mind what other people say about your families...it's none of their business anyway....
