Rhesus monkeys can be good statisticians; they can accurately sum a series of probabilistic clues to find which ever behaviour can fetch them a reward, says a study. Their reasoning is reflected in the firing rate of individual neurons is their brains, researchers from the Howard Hughes, Medical Institute and the University of Washington found after testing the reasoning of two rhesus macaques by showing them a series of abstract shapes on a video screen
