House work given to student

Some parents give lot of house work to students. I do not say that they should not be given any work at all. But now_a_day's children are having lot of syllabus to study and lot of home work, when compared to what we have studied. Apart from studies, they have to improve their general knowledge level and communication skills, which is also equally important to get a college seat or employment. Why not parents understand this? Let them limit the work given to their student child.

Yes. I agree. they must get accustomed to hectic life. At the same time parents should also realise the student's plight and try to give reasonable amount of work so that the child will balance between school and other activities and have a satisfaction of helping the family too. The balance should be done by both child and parent. As you say, definitely child should help in house work. Thanks for responding.

i think its okay for students to be given housework. kids can manage a little multi-tasking. i mean, look at working students. im sure they have to work doubly hard, but some have succeeded academically despite this. i think doing the housework is beneficial in so many ways. it teaches independence, for the most part.

Hai friend, nice to have a response from you and thanks for that. I fully agree with you. Students can be given house work and it is good for them in the sense, they can learn work, which will be useful for their future apart from helping the family. But what I was saying was some parents are over burdening their wards and think that they must bend their backs, then only they will be under control. As I told before, why to send children for news paper buying daily, when they can have house delivery? What is needed only can be asked for from the ward with an understanding of the child's capacity and time constraint.

The students studies and schooling can be considered their work. But I still feel as long as they are living at home they should have responsibilities around the house too.

Yes Mamacathie, students have responsibilities around the house. Reasonable work can be asked for and done by the children. But some parents are over-burdening their wards beyond their capacity and such children are finding it hard to draw a balance between the school work and house work. Why to send the child everyday, even when it is raining, to news paper shop, when they can have home delivery? I know I do not have any right to question them, after all they are their children, but you feel for the child. After all I am also mother of three children. Thanks for responding friend.

well im a student and im not saying that house work shouldnt be given to me because i know that isnt right or fair (because my moms a single parent) but anyway like i was saying its hard to handle that all together. Because im a cheerleader and we have practice and meetings at school and then when i get home theres only time to eat and clean then go to sleep and thats stressful. and now i just made the JV squad for my high school our coach wants more from us and i have practices right now for the summer from 6:00-8:00 at night imagen if i was still in school and this year is going to be difficult. now my mom just has me do stuff around the house that i can do on weekends when im not so busy.

Hats off to your mum friend, she understood your problem and convenience. Some parents do not understand their wards' problem. I never trouble my children unnecessaryly. Taking leadership work at school also improves your managing skills for the future. What I feel, children are also knowing their responsibilities and they themselves will come forward to help their mums, when they can. Only when they are not understanding, then mum can explain them. Thanks for responding.

the work given by our parents is not for their sake it's for own sake so that we can practise how to tackle a work between a busy schedule .that is when we do our homee work and study we can have a satisfaction that we have done a work which is useful to our home and it is like an exercise so it makes a our blood circulation faster and make us to do anything faster it removes our sleepiness and our laziness.it also make our parents happy instead of spending our time in watching tv and chatting we can do a work and make our parents happy.

I agree with you truthy21. Students can have not only a satisfaction of helping parents but learning the house work which will be helpful when they grow up. But I have noticed some parents always giving work to children even when certain things can be avoided like buying news paper every day. They can have house delivery facility and during that time, children can concentrate on their studies. The parent used to say, we must make them bend their back, then only they will listen to us when they grow up also. That is why I started this discussion. So this is about parents, who give extra work and not ordinary house work, which can be managed by students and good for them too. Am I correct Truthy21? Thanks for responding.
