Has anyone else had a child that got their first tooth before 3 months? My son has been really fussy for the past couple of weeks and I had thoughts he'd been teething but doubted it since the other three never did this early. Even when I saw the white bud under the surface I thought it was just something that'd go back down. The tooth broke through yesterday and boy was he mad. Today you can see that razor sharp tooth sticking out and no more screaming. Woo hoo. But I'd love some advice on those that experienced this, this early. I breastfeed and wonder now how much longer I'll be able to do it. Normally when they cut their first tooth at 6 months they understand better that it hurts to bite and don't do it, but he's too little to understand that. Oh and the pain, can they have anything for it this young?

My mom told me that my big brother was born with a baby tooth that had just erupted from his gums. She tried to nurse after he was born, and knew there would be discomfort until she got used to it. But she fell something sharp, and sure enough, a little tooth was there! She was still in the hospital when this happened (back then they kept ya in the hospital like 10 days when you had a kid)! Every baby is different and since I began having kids 24 years ago, I've seen the standards of "normal" in a baby's development change so much! As long as your baby is healthy (sounds like he is), I wouldn't worry. Parents stress out so much about their babies learning to walk and talk and get potty trained, etc. I say, are these things gonna be on their college apps? Relax...sounds like you're doing just fine with your little man!!

Thanks, yes I agree I never worried much with the other three but never experienced an "EARLY" tooth this early. Want to make sure he has less pain if I can help it. At least now I know mu suspicions were right that he was getting that tooth, makes sense why he acted so differently in the last two weeks.

I called the doctor yesterday, they'll be seeing him in two weeks. DO NOT USE ORAGEL or any other Baby teething ointment on one so young.

my youngest got his first tooth at four months, and now at nine months has four teeth and is teething two more.. At that age they can have tylenol, although you'll have to call the doc to get the right measurements. Good luck. I know my little guy just wanted to be held. And as far as nursing, I just unlatched my little guy every time he bit me.. he eventually learned that if he wanted to eat, he must not bite. it did take a while though.
