When to get rid of toys?

I have a 3 year old boy and a 1 year old girl. We are planning to have one more baby but I realy don't know how many toys I should hold on to. We are overflowing a little bit so I have been asking for people to buy clothes, shoes, blankets, etc for them instead. I have been saving all their favorite toys and some of my favorites but that is still a lot of toys in the attic. How do you decide what goes and what stays?

personally when i go trough my sons toys, i sort them in this way: 1. throw away any broken toys. 2. give any toys that he has multiple of to charity shops or friends that also have kids. and 3. give away any that he doesn't actually play with (these are the toys that get left at the bottom of his toy boxes and never get used anymore). doing these things help to clear out all unwanted things, i do this twice a year in preparation of christmas and his birthday.

Those are great ideas. I try to go through them at least once a year. My son's birthday is a few days after Christmas so that throws off the 2 times a year.

Keep those which evere yoiuand your kids loves most and it is better to give them in any of the hostels of the poor students or the one who cant afford to buy them.

My son doesn't have too many toys yet, but I've already started to weed out some of the babyish rattles and things that he just doesn't want to play with. Once I really start having to go through things I may keep a few things that he really liked for the next baby, but every thing else I'll probably sell.

You could separate those expensive and very loved toys (in our case, that'll be less than 2...lol). The rest you wathch for a week or any period of time that you decide, and the toy that hasn't been touched goes to a determined box. Then if it's not rescued you give away to charity, to someone who will love it and use it. Just make sure you explain this to your kids before proceeding.
