Have You Ever Lost Your Cell Phone?

Recently, I lost my cell phone. I've no idea where I lost it. I was devasted because I had some precious photos of a friend who passed away a 1yr ago. I have another cell phone now that's similar to the one I had. Thank God, my daughter purchased the equipment insurance on our plan. That's how I was able to get another phone. I was able to keep the same phone number which is really cool. Have you ever lost your cell phone and do you have the equipment insurance on your plan?

Sorry that you lost your pics of your friend. One reason that I don't have a cell phone with pics is because I do misplace things too easily. Cell phones are small enough to go unmissed for a length of time if they are misplaced. Having the pics on it that you treasure without a backup would hit hard if you lost them.

My husband lost his now for the second time. I haven't touch wood. I think women look after their phones ten times better, than me. Oops I don't know what happened to you! hie hie

I don't know why that happened to me either. I don't usually lose things. I agree with you that women are better at not losing things than men. Oh well, it just proves I'm only human.

Thank you for your response my friend. I hope to never lose my phone again. I had that phone for 2 years. It was a gift from my daughter. She got it for me so we could communicate with each other when I took a train trip out to where she lives in California. I keep the phone around my neck everywhere I go.

I haven't lost mine. But, my kids have. We didn't get the insurance, we didn't feel like we could afford it right now. So, when they lose one they have to get the cheapest model available and pay for it themselves. I'm sorry you lost the pictures, maybe it will still turn up someplace.

Yes...I lost my cellphone last year. Actually, my daughter lost my cellphone last year. What I ended up doing was calling the number and somebody picked it up. It turned out he lived right around the corner and I just walked over and picked it up from him. I was quite lucky. cheers,

yup. i've lost a cellphone once. I remember the brand was bosch and it was my first ever cellphone. my mother bought it for me coz we needed an easy form of communication way back when I had to go away for my college. I lost the phone in a taxi when I was going to my boarding house just after boarding off the plane. I was really sad back then and I was ashamed coz it wasn't my money that was used to bought it. so I saved a part of my allowance from my scholarship and bought a new one. ^__^

Hi secretbear, I can identify with how you felt because the phone I lost was a gift from my daughter. Glad you got yourself a new phone but sorry you had to use some of your scholarship allowance to do it. Sometimes in life, we have to make certain sacrifices. Are you done with college?

yup, I'm done with college 3 years ago. ^__^ I had a scholarship then for the whole 4years of my stay there. I was receiving a fair amount of allowance and my tuition was free. I felt so guilty for stupidly losing my first cellphone and I was ashamed to ask for a replacement from my mother so I voluntarily spent my allowance and bought another cellphone. it was a sacrifice worth my guilt. LOL it lasted until my first job, that was about 3-4 years when I finally decided to sell it & buy a new one. up to now, i've changed cellphones only thrice. ^__^

i never lost my cell phone and dont have equipment insurance plan.i wonder never heard this.this is really good idea to have equipment insurance plan.I am afraid about losing my cell phone and i use security code for my mobile.Even if i loss my mobile or anybody thefts it they cant use my mobile by putting another SIM card in my mobile unless they guess my security code. This way i protect my mobile.

It's good that you have security on your phone. But you should check and see if you can get the equipment insurance so you can get another phone if you ever lose it. Sounds like you're very careful about your phone and that's a good thing.

I have already lost two cellphones to snatchers for the last 4 years. These were the top of the line phones at that time. That's why now I am hesitant to buy the latest model as i fear I might loose them again.

Sorry to hear you lost your phones to theives. It's too bad they've caused you to have such fear that you're hesitant to get another phone. The advice given by the other poster about getting a phone with a tracking device sounds like a good idea. I may just look into that myself.

I have seen adverts of cellphones with tracking device, does that really work ? you could consider getting one with a tracker.

I agree, I think it's very common that people lose their cell phones. I suppose that might be because it is such a small item and can be easily misplaced. It's like a pen or pencil, put it down and it's lost. I've learned my lesson, will be very careful not to lose the new one I have.

Firstly sorry to hear about the loss of your phone - I know how much of a pain that can be - especially if you have photos on there that are not backed up! I've lost my phone twice in 6 months - due to no fault of my own really. First time was NYE 2006/2007 - the phone just crashed on me and now refuses to switch itself on (okay so its not really lost but still it doesn't work no matter how many times I send it for repairs) and recently about 2 months ago - I believe it got lost / stolen in a cab ! I now have insurance on the new handset which is yet to arrive !!

Wow, it's scary to think you could be robbed for your cell phone. Sorry you had to experience that. It does hurt when you lose something so personal. Hope you never lose your phone again by any means.

I liked your perspective, you are more concerned about loosing a dear one's pic than the cell, relationships are more important than material things.

Learning from our mistakes is a good thing because we then become careful about not making the mistake again. Glad you were able to purchase another phone.
