Does anyone else belong to a cooking club? I belong to one. It's typically about 6 - 10 of us women get together at someone's house each month. The host picks a theme (for instance: thai food, pizza, food on a stick, spanish, etc.) and everyone cooks something fitting to the theme. We all bring it to the hostess's house and eat! It's pretty fun. This month is "Pizza" and I haven't yet decided what type of Pizza to make.

I would love to join one of those. Paula Deen had a show on a few days ago about cooking clubs. How did you find yours?

I think all my friends can cook better than me. It's all about the fun though.:) My husband is actually the one that cooks in our family most of the time.

My dad was always the cook in my house too. My mom would cook once in a while, but it was usually my dad. It doesn't matter if you're a good cook...just don't undercook or overcook anything and you'll be ok!

I actually found the cooking club through a friend who found it through a friend. Everyone was friends and got together to do it. The one invited my friend and she invited me so we were strangers to them when it started. We've been in it for almost a year now. It's pretty fun. I hope you can find one around you. Or maybe you can start one with some friends?

that sounds like a lot of fun. i've never been part of a cooking club, but i think i would definitely enjoy that. if you're looking for pizza ideas... i once made a pizza with alfredo sauce instead of tomato sauce, topped with grilled chicken, mushrooms and a little sprinkling of parmesan. it was SO good.

That sounds good, minus the Parmesan and Mushrooms, both make me horribly ill. I wanted to do a dessert pizza but someone else is instead :\ I'm thinking I found a recipe for a cornbread taco pizza that sounded interesting.

You could probably watch videos and such. The best way to really learn is of course by doing it. So read about it or watch videos online or on tv... and then try it!

You could probably look online and I'm sure you could find something. Like I said though the best way to learn how to cook is to actually do it.

This sounds like a lot of fun, I wish we had some people around here that would be interested in doing something like this! We had some women at work that did a cookie thing like this and everyone made a different type of cookie and brought them in and everyone left with a platter full of different types of cookies.

That sounds like fun, the cookie thing. Maybe some of those women who did the cookie thing would be interested in starting a cooking club? It really is fun. It's totally a chick thing too, but husbands can be there if they must (they usually don't want too!) we just don't like the "couple" part of cooking club. We also have a rule that no children are allowed at cooking club.
