Some students make regular absence from school/college without a good reason . Such unruly behavior is to be strictly checked. The role of teachers in this sort of behavior of youngsters is very important. Either they should educate the absentee about the importance of regular classroom attendance or if an uncontrollable situation expel the student from the school/college.

As a teacher, I am here to say that you can only do so much. I am not in a position to expel students and although I call home and I talk to the student, sometimes it isn't enough. There comes a point where you need to use your energy instead on those that are showing up at school. Unfortunately, they have to want their education and if they don't, our hands are tied.

I am sorry to say this but if a child in unrully and doesn't want to be there why should the other kids be made to suffer. I think once these kids get to high school and they can not control their behavior they should be sent to a more militant school. Perhaps a school that keeps these kids in one place. I do not know how some of these kids learn any thing when other students are yelling and joking and back talking teachers. I am sorry though that there are so many kids that graduate high school and can't read or add and subtract.

That is right, it is never a good idea to skip class just because you don't feel like it. You miss alot that way and I always avoid that and make myself go to school even if I don't want to. I get to learn something by the end of the day anyways and that is always a good thing.

Absenteeism is the main problem faced by most school. School children hang around in cybercafes instead of attending class. In my country the school law is quite strict. If a student is absent for three consecutive days without letter from the parents they will automatically be suspended from school. One month absent is a gone case and would be an automatic expulsion from school.

My observation is that sometimes students have unexplainable complex problems (like family issues, psychological/emotional problems) because of which they remain absent to school/college and other times its just because they enjoy the 'boldness' of going against the established pattern. The second type cannot be brought in place by just talking. So, I feel they should be forcefully made to attend classes and once they start it, they should be talked with to find out if they have any complex issues that need attention.

I don't think that expulsion solves the problem of absenteeism, do you? There should definitely be rules and punishments in place for those who are excessively absent. Here, a student who misses too many days must go to summer school or repeat the year. Then again, every situation has to be reviewed on an individual basis.
