Why rush into marriage??

Why are couples so quick to jump into marriage? The divorce rate is what, over 50%..that's extreme..OVER 50%. You have a 50/50 chance of your relationship lasting. I understand the feeling that "this is it" and it's all great and perfect. But let's be real, the honeymoon phase will not last forever. Me and my boyfriend have been together for a few months over a year and we have been living together for 6 months now. I love him more than anything and we plan on getting married someday (although we are not engaged) but I'm relieved that we have the same views on marriage...it's something that can wait..it's only a piece of paper. My parents were married for over 20 years and they are now divorced. I plan on being with my boyfriend for at least 4 years before getting married. Not that that makes us immune to divorce (my parents were together for 4 years before getting married as well)..but it decreases the odds I think. What do you think about this? Are you married or divorced, and how long did you wait?

Depending on where you live. In Canada the divorce rate is 405 so 4 in 10 or 2 in 5 marriages will fail. It's scary.
