Have you ever been discriminated against because of a disability?

People are born with disabilities. Some get into accidents that are not their fault. Some can't walk, and some can't speak. But, it has nothing to do with their soul or personality. They are still the same wonderful, intelligent human beings they always were. But, I'm always surprised at how people with disabilities are often looked down upon or treated like they're contagious. Growing up, I'd see people go out of their way not to speak with a person who was mentally challenged, as if they could also catch their condition. It was very sad to see. Given the right circumstances, the same things could happen to us. So, why do we judge? Have you been discriminated against by someone just because you have a disability? Do you find that it's harder to get a job or make friends? Do you find that people are nicer to you because of a disability? Have you ever discriminated against someone?

No I haven't. I've known quite a few who have and I get very angry when I see it. I go as far as defending them because so what if they have something which someone says "holds them back" some peoples manors have been doing that for years. Honestly I wished people learnt to accept things. ~Joey

I wasn't born with a disability but I kind of acquired one in a car accident. It's sad really, I don't know that I have been directly discriminated against because of it, but people do seem to act a little differently once they know. I don't expect any favors or leniency though, it's just a hard thing to deal with sometimes.
