i was so mad, my son's birthday was yesterday, and my mom in law had been outta town b/c her parents r sick. well she came home today, hmmm how coincidental a day after my sons party and didn't call and tell him happy birthday, now she's home and she says she didn't want to make him cry b/c he starts asking when she's coming home. i said, if he does tell him that u have to talk to him later, but she's just kept using her parents as an excuse when there is no excuse, it takes a minute of her time, not to mention, she should've came home for the party it's only a day difference not to mention she's going back next week.

I would be P.O myself if my mother in law or my mother did this to one of my children as well . If she really cared she would have taken the time to come home the day earlier and it would have taken two seconds to pick up the phone and she was just using an excuse saying that she didn't want him to cry . I have always said that children , even at a young age will pick on , who is there for them and who is not there for them when they are younger and when they get older they will not want to have anything to do with family or friends that were not there for them as they will realize that they were not worth the time .

i know, she's supposed to move in august to live with her parents, my husband said do not call her and invite her to any parties, because we'll just hear excuses on why she can't come! she was already saying well i don't have money, money this, money that!

It really is sad that some parents are like this because it is the grandchildren who are going to be hurt as a result , but children are smarter then we give them credit for and before long your child will realize this and know who was there for them and who wasn't and in the end it is the grandparents who will miss out on so much .

I dont blame you for being P.O. I would have been too. How old is your son? She really should have called him to wish him a happy birthday. Well tell him I said Happy Birthday.

Americans are selfish and greedy. However I do feel that she should have called.

I know this hurts both of you..what does your husband say about it?..I went through a lot of problems with my mother-in-law as well..so, I can honestly say that I sympathize with you..what hurts is this is her flesh and blood so no matter what she thinks or feels about you she should be there with love for her little grandson...

That is really crummy. I can't believe she didn't even call.
I asked all our parents what weekend would be better for them and chose the one they could all make it too. I know if they couldn't make it they would have at the least called to wish a happy birthday.
