How to breed and take care of koi (carp)?

we just finished our pond and we got a couple of kois. we're planning to breed them. anyone here knows about fish and carps, particularly koi's? i could use some help and information how to keep the pond clean and the fishes happy. also what other equipments do i need for the pond? I would also love to hear about your pet fish/es.
