We were supposed to have a safety shoes in our office as part of the technical operations group. However, the top manegement did not considered us, to have those shoes. The technical operations includes inside and outside plant. We belong to inside plant workers who were not able to have a safety shoes. According to the management, we don't need any shoes. There were safety belt given too. But only the outside plant employees and the transmission men were given. Our department was deprived from all the safety gears. We also get up ladders as high as 10ft. And when we go to the field, we are at risk without safety gears.

I am sorry I don't have such an experience. But if were in your line, I would use safety gears at work to make me feel safer from my work. I think your department should offer you what is needed to make sure that you are safe, especially when you get up ladders as high as 10ft. It's better for you and your workmates to ask for this. Life is valuable.

I agree life is very valuable. I really hate it climbing ladders when I know I can fall anytime without anyone's knowledge because we usually do it alone specially at night or dawn when we need to troubleshoot something. Thanks for participating in my discussion. God bless you my friend.

yup. it's everyone's priviledge to have those safety working gears. some people/managements first wait for some terrible things to happen to their employees before they try to provide one. they knew this before. but still they kept on not providing such stuffs to their people... anne

I was working as an executive in a construction industry and often I had to visit the site where the construction workers were provided with headgears. I too had to wear walking through the construction structure.

I am going to assume you are not Union. If it is in writing somewhere I would take it to your management team. When I worked in construction anybody showing up on my job site had to have all their safety gear or they where sent away, no exception. I have even sent foremen away to get their gear. My job was to make sure everyone was safe and alive at the end of the day and I never had an accident in the 6 years I was in construction. You and your fellow employees need to get together and demand all your gear, it could mean a life.

Hi beauty_ph, all of you employees should be given PPE (personnel protective equipments). These are for your safety and protection. Although accidents do happen, but to lessen the pain and cost, PPE should be given :)

that is so unfair. you are supposed to be wearing those proper safety gears when working. we don't know when accidents might take place. so, why not be given those now than suffer later? plus, it's your priviledge for sure to have them. i think the company you are into is cost cutting on stuffs. and that's why they are doing this to you. i hope your management will attend to your needs. they don't want having employees being hurt at some time, right? - anne

Unfair for us my friend, I agree with that. They are cost cutting when we don't know how much they would spend if accidents can occur. They are insensitive. You are right Anne. Thank you for the response here. God bless you my friend!

I am a teacher so no, we do not have any safety requirements that include special safety equipment for us to wear. It sounds like you are working in an unsafe environment without safety equipment. I hope things get better for you at work.

I think that some companies are not aware that they have a responsability to all employees not just some. You many want to search for the ocea offices in your area. Saftey is important for all. If you are a union shop go to your shop stuert and complain. I wish you luck with this matter. It is important that you take the proper precautions to keep safe when working no matter where you work.

I think you are right we don't have a union where we can complain. I does matter to be safe always at work anytime of the day. Specially when we have to go out of the premises of our office. Thank you for the suggestions here. God bless!

Actually everybody has to use safety gears at works. But a lot of company won't give the equal safety gear for all their workers since they want to be efficient in spending company budget with what they call "un neccessary expenses". That's just the same problem with the company where my husband work. Until some safety inspections visited this company and complaint about safety gear and facility for the workers. So the company has to do something about or they'll get huge fine...

Some companies reason it out for "unnecessary expenses" which is not fair. I think they should prioritize safety for the employee. Maybe a union can be of get help. We are helpless since there is no union in our company. An inspector will be our only angel to save our needs since the company don't care. Thank you for responding, God bless!

I agree you should have the safety equipment you need in any job. It should always be provided to you. My safety gear consists of soap, water, and occasional nose plug for those diapers that you can't stand to smell....and the baby gates are in place! lol

If your job requires safety gear, it should provide it, especially if they are providing the safety gear for other departments.

Maybe other departments' boss are doing something for the safety of the team. Don't you think our boss just don't care for us than the boss from other departments? I think our boss should provide valid reasons for us to have safety we need at work. Thank you for the very concise response. God bless!

If you are away from getting electricuted or falling debris, chemicals, etc I think its ok not to wear safety gears. It is a bad habbit if you are exposed to unsafety or critical jobs. I don't know how to demand this to management when our boss simply don't care. Have a wonderful day and welcome to mylot. God bless!

Oh yeah. My husband works as a plumber in commercial construction. They are supposed to wear the safety gear but no-one does. The company has not had any serious problems but they have occasionally been fined for not having things the way the safety people want. What does the boss do? He just pays the fines, he doesn't care.

What your management think about safety? I think safety is the most important for every employee. But, your management think that only few employee have risk. So, you are right that we are at risk without safety gears. But, they are have authority because they have money. How about Human Resourse Team? Don't they have opinion?
