http://www.mylot.com/w/newsarticle/268075.aspx Fellow mylotters especially those who are living in third world countries, beware! These meat that are being recalled which were contaminated with e. coli bacteria might find their way to your own table. No kidding, when instances like this happens some opportunists either smuggle these to our countries or bribe our custom officials so that they can still make money out of these condemned meat. I hope the group who is responsible for this mess would be responsible enough to burn them all so that no incident just like before wherein meat with foot and mouth disease or recalled chocolates would be resold cheaply to our market. This is not to discredit anyone or any group or any race for that matter, but please stop dumping your wastes to third world countries and call it donation.

Yikes! This is really scary stuff! Thank for letting people know about that! I don't live in a third world country. I live in the US. But, I have friends and associates in Ghana, West Africa, and I have a special place in my heart for people in third world countries. How can it really be a donation when it's stuff that can make people very sick or kill them? Some "donation" that is! It is a disgrace that people keep doing that.

Thanks for responding. E. coli could make a person really sick with dehydration, diarrhea, hemorrhage, just to mention a few and unscrupulous people don't care about these things. Let's be vigilant. Thanks.

I would hope that no-one is unscrupulous enough to attempt to send knowingly contaminated meat to any other country....what a terrible thing.... This is not a donation for the sake of caring...it is an outrage to even think about it makes me furious.... Please people....be careful....e-coli is a nasty bacteria that can be potentially fatal...it is serious....know what you are purchasing and be sure to check the contents of your frezzer if you purchased meat during this week of April 29-May 6....... I am sorry that another human being would be so cold and calculating as to try to sell poison to another person for profit.... Thanks for the warning.....

Thanks for responding. It had happened in the past here in the Philippines because of unscrupulous smugglers posing as businessmen conniving with so called public servants yet they only think of money for themselves at the expense of the public health and welfare. I'm blowing the horn, so to speak, to at least warn the public (there are thousands of Filipinos and from other third world countries here in myLot), hoping it would reach the ear of the authorities and be on guard of this thing ever happening again.

That is ridiculous....I am so sorry that this happens....I hope that many people read this discussion and are paying attention to the seriousness of this recall and the potential danger...... There are many different countries represented here on myLot.....I understand your thinking to try to warn them through this post.....I think it is beneficial.... I am so sorry to learn that this issue is a realistic danger to many counries....that is one of the things that I love about myLot....the vast differences that we all have...I have learned so much in 3 months here.... I wish that there was more that I could say or do to help remedy this situation....I feel helpless and I can only empathize with you....and others in this situation.....

If meat is properly cooked it will kill any bacteria in it. It only takes a short 15 seconds to kill this bacteria once meat has reached the proper cooking temp. Depending on what meat it is that temp will vary. But it is very scary to hear these things. But if you are careful about how you cook anything you will be fine!

Unless you raised the beef, slaughtered it, and packed it I would never eat anything rare! It's just not safe now a days.

Thanks for the tip. However, the beef more often than not are cooked not very well especially if it's ground beef or hamburger pattie. Some people also prefer their steak rare or medium rare and what if it's contaminated with E. Coli strain, 0157:h7? We can never be sure and I believe that's why there is a recall to prevent diseases from spreading especially to children and older people. Thanks.
