im talking about a kids that are just 1 year old up to 5 years old. this toodler age are the age of the kids where they really grow fast and buying them clothes are really very frustrating. so if you are going to go shopping for your kids do you buy the affordable ones because you know they will just be using it once or twice? or are you willing to spend a lot for the reason that they are your kids and they deserve it....

I won't buy expensive clothes for my child. I won't spend lots money in this aspect. I prefer to use this money to buy books, milk powder, toys, education etc. As you say, children are growing fast and therefore it's no need buy expensive clothes for them. As soon the clothes will not be suitable for them any more. I even like to get the child's clothes from my friends and relatives.

Lately I've been starting to go to the good will or salvation army for clothes for myself and my daughter. I even get a couple of her toys there too.

i have a 9mth old son, perhaps not exactly the age u r discussing BUT i always believe in "hand-me-downs" coz even at such a young age, clothes are too X and they outgrow it fast too. so far i have bought only a handful of new clothes for him coz i was unable to get some hand-me-downs fm friends :( BUT i bought them during great sales of 50% discount :D so tts not too bad. I have to keep telling myself not to buy any more clothes for him for the rest of the year haha~ lets hope i can persist.

hahaha... i can hope also you can hold it, but when you see something really cute you just resist buying it when it is really expensive. goodluck. it is true also that there are limited styles for boys than from girl clothing.

i dont have kids, but if you are willingly to spend a lot of money on your kids clothes go right ahead. i tihnk the best way is to buy them not much until they grow older, especially when they stop growiing cause once they grow upp, they wont be able to fit any of their numerous clothes when they were a child, so whats the point on wasting money like that?

I have a nine year old and I get most of her clothes either from wal-mart or from friends (hand me downs). The only "expensive" clothes she has is for if we go some place nice. Since she plays outside a lot and outgrows them so fast I don't see the sense in buying expensive outfits. The only place where I don't go cheap is shoes. It is important to give growing feet good sturdy shoes, to make sure the feet develop right.

You have to allow your children to learn the value of money. Don't overspend on them.

I absolutely refuse to buy expensive clothes for my kids until I know they'll be able to wear them for a while before out-growing them! Even then, I want to be sure they're mature enough to know when and when not to play outside in good clothes! My boys are 8 and 5 years old. I will buy them expensive shoes just for "going" or for church. But, I won't go over $30 or $40 for each pair. Other than that, Wal-mart is great! Lol.

I can't see any point in spending a lot of money for expensive clothes that are either only going to be worn a few times or they will get wrecked. It's not like there aren't plenty of reasonable quality clothes that are reasonably priced. Most people are going to think babies are cute no matter what they wear within reason. It's far better to save that money and use it for things that are really important.

exactly my reasoning, better to save money and use it for things that are really important like diapers and milk or saving up for a good education is far more omportant than clothes. thanks for the response.

I always try to buy wisely for both myself and my daughter's clothes. Actually, I try to be wise in all my purchases. I only buy branded clothing while on sale and I choose the ones that look expensive but is priced a quarter of the original tag. As with unbranded clothing, I pick the ones that stand out, of good quality and reasonably priced. So my daughter ends up with stylish clothing without costing me an arm and a leg. It's just a matter of being patient while choosing wisely. Some parents don't have the time and energy to do it, so they just settle for items that they can grab while shopping. For me, I love to go around and hunt for great buys. You can't make me buy something regularly priced because I know there's always an alternative. :)

I don;t spend too much for my kids clothes because she is growing up fast and often she wears an expensive dress for only two or three times before she outgrows them. For her daily wear,I buy cheaper clothes because I don;t have to worry about handwashing or drywashing them.I buy her some nice dresses but not too many.I save some of her new dresses for the times we all go out, and or wearing on occasions,I buy her good dresses but they are like 3-4 of them in total. My kid is 3,and we were gievn the same treatmet as kids.We would be disappointed at that time but now that I am a parent myself,I understand many of the things that my parents did for us as kids.

for pictures, i'll spend a little more on his clothes, but otherwise i get my son's clothes at target or walmart. basic cotton clothes. walmart usually has a rack of clothes that are about $3 for shirts and pants/shorts, so that's where most of his clothes come from. outfits are generally $10 or less. not because i don't think he's worth it, but because he gets paint and mud and marker all over his clothes (not to mention food spills).

I don't have any kid bcz I am not married so I cann't tell u the exact situation but I must say that it mainly depends on ur budget bcz if ur pocket allows to go for costly products then u will surely go for that bcz everybody wants to bring the best for his/her child. So I think the same case will be with me too.

Over here in the UK, we have a shop called Primark and all their clothes (adults and childrens) are very inexpensive! Also we have an Asda, which I believe is Walmart over in the US, and that is also pretty cheap! I personally dont see the point in buying expensive clothing for children of such a small age because they either grow out of them too quickly or the they ruin them playing outside! My sister once spend £40 on a top for her daughter which is totally ridiculous, I dont even spend that on a top for myself!!

My children are 5,7, and 8 years old. I have always bought the majority of their clothing second hand. I visit thrift stores, yard sales, and flea markets. My children wear name brand clothing which I pay very little for. No on can tell that the clothing isn't bought new from a store. I do buy them some clothing brand new but I usually will buy the brand new clothing off of the clearance racks so that I am not paying full price. I love my children and I do believe that they deserve nice things in life but I also realize that I don't have to pay a lot for them to have nice things.

I used to spend whatever I wanted on my son when he was a baby and toddler. I would buy gap, gymboree, old navy, polo, sketchers, etc...now that he is 6 and rough and tough, I will go to Target or Walmart for his clothes. He likes to play rough, so I figure...why not?

My daughter and I go garage saling every saturday and buy great looking clothes for littler then $1 each... My daughter also works for goodwill and gets outfits there for under $3 each. But when it comes to younger children that are still growing that is the way to do it. Hugs
