Is this how Bush feels?

I was watching the news this morning and they were talking about a "no confidence" vote for Alberto Gonzalez. They then showed President Bush saying " Regardless of a no confidence vote, it will not determine who I have in my government." MY government?! Since when is it his government? For some crazy reason I thought it was MY government, and YOUR government! Maybe I am being naive here, but what happened to "for the people"? Are we no longer a democracy?

According to the U.S. Constitution, the Executive Branch is the President's to run. In the U.S. a "no confidence vote" from the Legislative Branch to anyone in the Executive Branch is meaningless because each branch is run independently of each other.

Para, I was hoping to hear from you. I have a little better understanding now, but like someone else here said, he could've picked a better choice of words.

Have you ever noticed that we don't care what words our friends choose, but we jump on any words someone else might use? ;~D

I have my opinion on Bush and it is not a positive one. I think he is an absolute moron. His government? Um, I thought this was a democracy! Shouldn't it be by the people for the people? What happened to that? Honestly I think he should have been removed from office long ago.

I completely agree with you! There is going to be a major need for a clean up after he leaves office. He has just made a complete mockery of our government and our values as a nation.

I do agree with you, soccermom. It seems that our president is taking on more and more dictatorial powers. I don't think that what the people want matters to him any longer. He just wants to push his agenda through.

I don't think that what the people wanted was ever important to President Bush. How he can serve and profit Corporate America is Bush's sole purpose. He was elected by people who like some of the things that he said (My step son-in-law and step daughter voted for him solely on his views on abortion) and that the Democratic Party didn't pick a stronger candidate to oppose him.

I just wrote some insurance policies for a Canadian couple, her hubby works for a company that transferred him here, and I have to say I feel bad for them. They are from Vancouver, and I have to say after listening to them it makes me wonder why on Earth the guy accepted the job transfer. The real eye opener was this. We were talking about the community they will be living in, and I was answering questions for them. They're really great people, and over the course of the conversation I suggested to them that they purchase a $2 million dollar "umbrella" policy. They have a lot of assets, bought an expensive house, paid cash for 2 new cars, etc..and while I was talking to them I was thinking these two have a target on their back for a lawsuit. While I was explaining what an umbrella policy is the husband looked at me and said.."So it is true, Americans are sue happy. That's what we hear in Canada." My reply was "They don't have warnings telling you it's hot on the side of a McDonalds coffee cup for nothing." I have to say I was almost envious of the life they had in Canada.

That's part of the talk I had with my new clients that blew me away also. We were talking about their new home, they paid $182,900 for it, and I told them that we've had an influx of people from Chicago because that same house would probably be close to a million in a closer suburb. They laughed and said they felt like they were getting a "steal" because in Vancouver that house would've easily been $2 million. I was kinda surprised to find out that the cost of living in Canada is so much higher.

This Canadian also says,"I have a Farm in Ontario (near Toronto) and a Mobile Home near McAllen, Texas. We live in Texas during Canada's winter months. We absolutely Love Life in Texas. Sure is wonderful when you have Bananas and Grapefruit growing in your backyard. And we Enjoy our American Neighbors! Everyone gets along Famously. Its less costly to live in Tx. than in Canada. Taxes are lower and food is cheaper. WE enjoy fresh fruit and veggies, grown in the Rio Grande Valley, and the proximity to Mexico keeps the prices down. Also Restaurant prices are lower because of Cheap Labor in the Border State. So we think we have the Best of Both worlds! Texas is a Great Place to Live!"

without doubt that push do not receive the concept of democracy completely. What he said that the government is his own government is the evidence. and also it is a pity that he always choose the inappropriate words ,especially in some official occasion.

I think every decision that bush makes, the way he thinks is all influence by the word "MY" I doubt that he very often thinks we are a democracy more like a myocracy!!!

the term 'power hungry' works well here, i'm glad that we're not governed by him, something about bush has always gotten to me, since before he left i believe it was texas. I've always seen that man as a killer, out for himself, his power, and his fame, i don't think he should be running a country, and i don't think he should have the right to destroy people and a place like the states for anything.

That's exactly how he feels. This is "his" dictatorship not "our" government right now. Do you realize he has the power to declare martial law during war which gives him the ability to stay in office indefinitely? That's a brief summary of it but it's possible because of this we won't get a new president when we're supposed to. ‹(°¿°)›

I see Vladilyich already pointed this fact out. I answered your discussion straight from my email where we don't see the responses. Sorry about that. ‹(°¿°)›

Wow-- I wonder if he caught this back when he watched it again- How arrogant he sounds- His Government- GIve me a break- Last I checked it was for the people- by the people-- Not in his eyes- I'm hoping it was a slip of the tongue- just a mistake- Even Bush can't be that arrogant- and think it is his government!

Bush has said before he doesnt care what the people want and he will do what is best for his country, remember the constitution is just a stupid piece of paper, one of his many quotes, he wanted the patriot act passed whether the people liked it or not.
