So, who was the one trusted individual that you came out to first? I know my friend was the first person for sure. How did you tell them?

The first person I came out to was a male friend of mine. I considered him my adopted little brother. This was 20 years ago. I had been very depressed and withdrawn for months trying to come to terms with being gay and the non acceptace it would cause in my life and work. I started telling him how much his friendship ment to me and how I had not told him that even with all the time we spent together. He thought I was about to tell him I was falling in love with him so he said "you need to know I'm gay". I laughed and told him I was trying to tell him the same thing. It was quite a coversation :)

I came out in 2004, I told My sister via email. I really liked her original response "you are still my sister aren't you?" "You always will be, it doesn't matter what you are."...However, when I went and visited her last December, it seemed to me that her acceptance wasn't so real. It really hurt me how fake she was.
