Do you still say "Thank You" when the cashier hands you your change?

Time have changed, and we live in a very fast-paced world...so fast that we don't even stop to think about the little things, like being courteous or polite to other people.

Yes, I say "Thank you" and I mean it. Those little courtesies work like a lubricant to go over the many sand that comes into the gears of human relations. And I'd add a smile, :) Independent of people's attitude, I enjoy to be friendly, and if a little service is on hand, I'm ready. Life's so much easier that way! Oh, Thank you for asking!

I do still remain polite in this society. I make sure I say thank you to the cashier when she hands me my receipt and my change. It is nice that people treat you with respect so I treat others with respect as well.

"Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you", like the old saying goes :) Thanks for the comment!

I try to. I try being nice to anyone, but sometimes, even cashiers get under my skin and don't conduct themselves in an appropriate matter. If they aren't nice to me, then I'm not going to be that nice to them. You get what you give in my opinion.

Hmm tough ;) But I guess not everyone has a good day, and it's all a matter of timing. Thanks for sharing ;)

I always say 'Thank You' regardless how rush I am. I am afraid I don't think 'fast-paced' is a reasonable excuse not to say thank you as the magic word Thank You will only take 1 second to say, but will make people feel good all day long.

Some people (especially the younger ones, my age) tend to take that simple little act of praise and appreciation for granted, but most actually take the trouble to thank the person, and it actually does brighten someone's day. Thank you for sharing! ;)

Yes, I try to be polite at all times. It is just a small thing to do and could really make someone else a little happier. You are right that people don't appreciate others as much as they used to.

I agree with you. It's good that at least we make an effort to to do it just to ease things a bit. Thanks for your thoughts! :)

Of course I do. I would feel so rude if I didnt. I suppose I was brought up with manners and respect. No one is too busy to say thank you it takes a second and costs nothing.

I try to when I get my change. I also try to make small talk if I know they won't mind it. I wish them a good evening too. It's not that hard to brighten someone's day.

Yeah, I also do that while I wait for them to pack my groceries. It's not that bad, most of the time they appreciate a little chit-chat or two :) Thanks!

Yes, and if I forget for some reason I always feel bad afterwards. The thing that really gets me is the people who don't say "you're welcome" or anything back to you. Let's not forget the ones who don't say anything to you at all and the only thing do is take your money. That really irrates me. I used to work in customer service and I always trained everyone to be polite and always make eye contact with the customers. Ok, off my little rant now. Sorry *blushing and apologetic* :-)

Haha! Customer Service can be a very thankless job...I should know, I worked in a call center for a few months before actually quitting :P It made me realize the value of praise being appreciated. Thanks for your comment, gizmo ;)

Common courtesies, and the rest of the little things, are just as important as the "big" things. So, yep, I say thank you, whenever I can.

Little things matter the most, I believe that too. Thanks! :)
