I'm not sure - I know most of them will get thrown out only to be recycled and that could save a lot of trees.
From the other side of things, I'm not sure how good reading magazines on line would be for people's eyes, but I guess some people spend a lot of time on line anyway.
Maybe both options could be available and people could take their choice, but have it cost extra for the hard copy magazine

I don't think they will go away, nor do I want them too. There are times and places when I don't want or can't have a computer at my disposal to read these magazines.
I am from the old school also, I tend to print things out and look at hardcopy anyways because it's usually more convienent and easier to read. It's the only way to proof read anything that you written also.

Oh I don't think magazine have seen their last day. Not for a while. Most of the ones I read are in print. Some are online, but with a print version you can take it anywhere you want. To the beach, to the doctor, in the car during a trip... Perhaps someday magazines will be obselete, but I think we have a good twenty years before we worry about that.

I don't purchase or use print material anymore, unless it is a book that I know I will keep and reread. I do appreciate literature, but when it comes to newspapers and magazines, I can find that information online. prefer NOT to support an industry that destroys trees when I can get the same information electronically. besides, magazines only end up in my recycle bin anyhow.

Yes I am afraid so lol. Well, it ought to be so.
Just that day, I saw someone promoting magazine subscriptions at a stall and I was thinking, "Goodness, do people still buy magazines nowadays"?

Yes, I do think the print magazines will last. I personally will read a printed magazine before any online magazine.. Printed magazines are great to read when you are waiting for something or someone. I know they came in real handy when I was waiting to get on and off my flight.

There will always be a place in my life for magazines. I love finding a good magazine, and taking it with me to a local cafe, where I can sit for hours drinking coffee and reading. I have subscriptions to a number of major magazines, and this is precisely what I do.

I still get subscriptions of magazines. The online versions are just a back up for them I believe. I do other things on line so being able to sit and read a magazine is a real treat and I take them on vacation where I have no computer. I am hoping that the printed media is around for a very long time still. Need to electric to read them, they don't shut down on you. Don't get viruses etc. You get the idea I think.

Yes, I love magazines. I can't really afford them though. I get left over magazines from my Mother-in-law. My favourite magazine is the Australian Womens Weekly. Next to that would be the Australian New Idea.
I don't read any magazines online. Hubby says I spend too much time online as it is!

Of course I read magazines. I cut out anything that I want to keep like recipes and such, and then the rest gets recycled.
I understand about the wasted paper, but I can't read everything on the computer screen without getting goofy in the head.

I do not think we will do away with magazines. For one thing, not everyone carries a laptop around and can read the magazine on line. So we will need to read hard copy. Also once they get rid of magazines, they will have to make up the financial loss from not having magazines and unlike print copies, no one can tell who the original reader of the online magazine was, and will be keeping charging for the online subscription.
For instance, I have a subscription to "Writers Digest" and suppose a friend of mine asks if she can read it after I finished. Now that will never happen, but suppose she wants to borrow it. I will then lend it to her and when she is finished, she will return it. However if there were only online subscriptions, the Writers Digest people will charge her to read the online magazine.
So for that reason, we still need offline magazines. Besides as of yet, the readers we need to read online magazines have not come down in price enough for everyone to use them and we will still have to buy chargers and batteries. But once they do away with paper magazines, the free online magazines will decrease considerably.

I know what you mean.....the only advantage of reading the print version is you can take it anywhere to read,I like reading mine in bed but now with laptops,I don't see magazines being around for too long....

There's more and more coming out each day and each week and I'm not joking.
Many look the same as the other, especially those girls mags about teen life and stuff like that. Although a decline in football magazine's is happening due to the world of online sites.

Well , we are now a days checking out things more on Internet than on Printed Magazines.
However,Magazines still sell a lot.Computer Interface is tiring for eyes and one does not always like reading things on Internet / Offline Files.
So Magazines or Newspapers are still in demand.
