What would you do if someone stole your TV?

If you had to give up TV for a week, or longer would you survive? If someone stole your TV set and you didn't have enough money to replace it, how would you cope? Personally, I would be fine if someone took away my TV, because I spend most of my spare time on the computer. But, years ago, I was addicted to TV shows and soap operas. That was long before I had a baby. Most days I don't get thirty minutes in front of the TV set. My preschooler is another story, though. She likes watching DVDs and movies. She would be devastated. I'd rather spend my time working online and chatting with friends. So, how about you? Do you think you could survive without TV in your life? Which shows would you miss the most?

I think I would be all right. I would read and listen to music and of course I'd probably have an immaculate house. My husband would be okay for a little while but then he'd break down and have to buy another one. My son, CJ wouldn't know how to handle it. With his Autism he loves to play his video games and watch the shows that he records on his DVR. He would go absolutely 'bonkers'... :)

Yes, my house would be a lot neater too. I do most of my TV watching out of the corner of my eye as I work on the computer. But, my little kid is a different story. She would be devastated if the TV went on the fritz or got stolen. Actually ours stopped working for about a week. And, she tried to be brave, but she missed her Shrek movie and Grinch movies. Some days I don't think we would survive if she didn't have those DVDs. We had to buy two second hand TVs to make sure it never happened again. We got a deal. Two practically brand new TVs for less than a hundred dollars. It pays to shop at the pawn shop.

That's what I do as well. My computer is in corner of living room, behind couch, but I have a small mirror that I've positioned so that I can look into it on occasion and see what's going on on the TV; I usually just listen, mostly. Our electricity went out about a month ago and CJ didn't know what to do. If it weren't for his battery operated hand-helds, there would've been a total melt-down. I hate to say it but we as parents have spoiled our children way more than we should.

I'm obsessed with my computer too. It's a regular fact of life around here. My favorite shows are off for the season, and I missed the last half of Lost, so I'll have to get it on DVD from Netflix. Let's just hope they don't go out of business anytime soon!

I will have no problem surviving, because I have 3 TVs in my house. I can always transfer the next one out into the living room until I get a replacement. Even if all my 3 TVs are stolen, I still don't have a problem, because my PC has a TV tuner and I can also receive TV reception on my PC. Anyway, I am not addicted to the TV, and I can miss watching TV for a few days. I will only miss Prison Break, my favourite show at the moment. But no worries, cos I can also catch it on the internet here http://www.tv-links.co.uk/

I have no problem to stay for a week or two without TV. Right now, I don't even have enough time to switch on the tv. I depend on the newspapers to know about latest news. Like you, I was also addicted to watch soap operas (especially korean dramas though I don't understand not even a single word) The most important role the TV plays in my house is for me to watch DVDs.

No choice! Can't go to the cinema because of my 9 months old baby son. Depend a lot on DVDs.

I would certainly survive, but I would definitely go through some initial withdrawal, that's for sure! I know I watch entirely too much TV, and if it were taken away for a week, it would probably do me some good (and I'd probably lose a quick 5 pounds) During the TV season, I would miss Grey's Anatomy and American Idol. During the summer, I watch more of the news channels and HGTV, so would miss those types of shows.

I wouldn't really mind if I lost my T.V. I could live with a computer. I like them much better. There isn't much on T.V. anymore.

I love TV and I will always have one because I fix them! I still have 4 down in the basement that needs some work so if mine goes out in the bedroom or livingroom, I can always go down and get one of them! I find my TVs on trash day or just on the side of the road. Last week I found a 13 in. color TV with a built in VCR and there wasn't a thing wrong with it! I guess who ever pitched it out probably got a new 19 in. I don't know what I'm gonna do come 2009 when all (analog) TVs will end, (that's what we all have now). They are going to stop the use of (analog) TVs and use a new kind. None of our TVs will work, not even a brand new big screen, you might have now, but I heard they WILL work, (after you convert them to the new system), either that or you'll have to go and buy the new kind of TVs! Someone just told me that you'll be able to buy a (kit) for around $75 to install into your old TV so it can work.

I am like you although I would be very upset that someone stole my t.v and that I would have to find a way to replace it , it wouldn't bother me that much as I can go weeks at a time without ever turning it on but I would be devestated if someone stole my computer as I am on it everyday but my preschooler would drive me nuts without a t.v . She watches it everyday and truely seems to believe the t.v belongs to her . If someone dares to change the channel from treehouse you can hear her from any room in the house as she gets so upset . The older children usually have to agree to play a game or read her a book just to watch one channel that they want as she figures that the t.v is hers and her favorite thing to say is that you have to share and she is not done using it yet lol . I would be able to survive but it would be another matter for the rest of my household .

Well we don't have TV anymore lol. We have A television set, but we only watch DVD's and the kids will play the occasional game on the PS2, but thats it. We decided when we moved to not bother with Cable anymore, and it was certainly an interesting experience! Now though, we don't miss it. The kids would rather go out to play or have their friends round, they might watch the occasional DVD. I feel that the less TV they watch, the better. It'll help to prevent them being couch potatoes as they get older. They enjoy coming out with me and my partner for walks on an evening. Thats more fulfilling for them than sitting and watching TV all night long :o)

Yes, cable can be a little bit of a mind drain. Best served in moderation. We're a DVD family too. But, we could run those on our computer.

It depends on the time of year. During the summer I would be totally fine! Except I do tape my soaps, but I think they are available on podcast. I would be forced to clean more, so I guess it would be good:)

I don't think it's possible. As the TV at our home is very big and heavy. It's really not easy to take it away. Even if we have to ask someone to go to our home to fix it rather than moving it to the shop to repair.

i would rather stay quite mulling over the thief's mind's enjoyment of the thrill of stealing a TV. next i will think i should possess a computer where i can use TV tuner card to watch TV but if i already have one i would buy a TV tuner card and fix it. i am not addicted to TV shows so i might feel that the Tv has been stolen for good 'coz the idiot has at last left me. i wi8ll never chat being online for such sorrowful dejection but go on reading James Headly Chase.

My TV was stolen! Actually, my whole apartment was robbed and I lost a few tv's, but that was a couple months ago. Truthfully, it sucks to have your stuff taken, but since I've recently found myLot, I actually haven't been watching that much TV. You never know when an interesting topic is going to come up!

i remember years ago when i worked in another city for two years. i did not own a tv set within those years. and i hate going to another apartment to ask if i can watch tv shows in their house. but i was able to survive those two whole years without it in my life. plus the fact that i still don't have a laptop and an internet connected yet during those years, i am glad i was able to make it. so, i can survive without a tv set before and even now. but the difference is, if i can't survive without internet before, i can't anymore now... anne

just like what you are, my grand kid would be devastated and feel frustrated if our tv is stolen. she loves to watch cartoons on tv and always turn it on when she wakes up in the morning. i think it would be my first agendum of the day to look for a replacement of the stolen tv for the sake of my grand kid. not so much for me because i can still watch movies with my computer and keep updated with the latest news online. in a way, i will be missing most my favorite noontime and evening game shows.

I think I can survive, beacause I spend a lot of time on internet and my daughter, I view news and listen music from internet, my daughter is four month, I play with her when I am at home. There are many things to do if TV set be stolen, we should enjoy life close to nature with family.
