Friend with health problems

I found out this morning that my friend Carrie has been diagnosed with Spinal Meningitis. The doctor's are unclear if it's viral or bacterial. Please keep this family in your prayers today.
Here's the hard part. Cindy is 22 weeks pregnant. If it is viral...there are medications that they can give her and the baby will be fine.
If it's bacterial, chances are it's already caused problems with the baby and it will most likely be still-born and if not have major health problems.
Has anyone else encountered this in their lives or someone they know? How did things turn out with the little one?
Those friends in the medical field...here's where I desperately need your advice!

Well, it did turn out to be viral...and it's treatable! Thank you so much for all the prayers. The baby is fine, kicking happily away in Mommy's tummy during an ultra sound last week!

oh me too! She has 2 darling little girls, and they so wanted this boy! He is going to be one very loved little one! Of course they adore their girls, but were petrified at the thought of losing one.

oh my dear that is just so sad . I do hope that it is only viral . I have heard of people with cancer and the baby was okay , but not this . I shall certainly pray for your friend . Please keep us posted on her condition .

Carrie is doing great. She has a PICC line, and has to take iv antibiotics twice a day, for the rest of her pregnancy to keep the virus from taking over again. Baby Jacob now weighs almost 4 pounds and is kicking up a storm.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Carrie. I hope that it is only viral so that the baby is healthy and well. Hopefully the situation gets taken care of und the baby is healthy. As well as the mother too!

Thans for your thoughts. Mama and Baby are doing great. Carrie is having to take IV anti-biotics every day to keep the viral infection at bay. It will have to run it's course which may take several months. But it hasn't hurt the baby!

Oh dear I'm afraid I don't have or know anyone with experience in this area but I will certainly keep this mother and child in my prayers.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I know that Baby Jacob is well because of all the prayers that were sent to the Father on his behalf! He is doing great, and weighs almost 4 pounds according to the Ultra sound that was done. He is now at 27 weeks! He is going to be a big baby, like his older brother who weighed over 9 pounds!

Im really very sorry about your friend. And I pray for her and her baby now. I also pray that the disease be of Viral atleast, so that they can get the cure and the baby can be born without any problem. Group prayers will always be effective. I believe, she has the prayers of all the mylotters. God help her.

thank you so much for your prayers! She is doing well, though her blood tests still show signs of the menengitis, and she has to take antibiotics every day until the baby is born at least. This is not very fun for her, as she went home with an iv still attached, and then it has to be changed every 21 days to a new site. Bless her heart, she looks like a pin cushion.
