It's bad enough that she's stealing, but stealing from the county courthouse??? LOL!
Woman Charged with Theft of TP from Courthouse
MARSHALLTOWN (AP) - A Marshalltown woman accused of stealing toilet paper from the Marshall County Courthouse could find herself behind bars.
Police Chief Lon Walker says Suzanne Butts, 38, was caught last week after a courthouse employee saw her taking three rolls of tissue from a storage closet.
Walker says Butts has prior theft convictions and could face up to two years in prison if convicted of the new 5th degree theft charge.
The chief says Butts doesn't work at the courthouse, and he doesn't know why she was there.

I know. I do feel sorry for the poor woman, though. Did you see her interview on the news? She really isn't the brightest bulb in the pack.

You wouldn't believe what some people steal! And their excuses are even crazier.
I worked in a prison and there were men there who were in prison because they violated their parole by stealing some small thing. One guy said he HAD to steal disposable diapers because his baby had to have them. He couldn't see that it would have been less costly for him to use dish towels or something instead of going to prison for a package of disposables.
And then there is a friend of mine who worked in a church. His pay was very small and he was always looking for ways to save money. He never bought toilet paper because he would use the toilet at church and, being a man, he didn't need toilet paper at home.
People ARE strange sometimes.

You are right. How people think is beyond me. I haven't heard much else about this woman since the original article.
I remember working in the grocery store and saw someone shoplift an .69 cent package of hotdogs. He was caught. I'm sure it wasn't his first offense, but it seems like such a silly thing to go to prison for. I'm sure if he would have thought about it... he could have searched the roadside ditches and found 70 cents worth of popcans (5 cent deposit) to turn in for those dogs. :)

Yes. But you see these people never consider that they will be caught and held accountable. They have really rigid mindsets. "Other people may get caught but I won't. I'm smarter than that."
Many even believe they have a right to whatever they steal. Amazing.

You have got to be kidding me. I wouldn't take toilet paper especially from a courthouse. The name just killed me when I read it and that combined with the items that she stole. I was laughing so hard that I am crying. Can you imagine getting caught stealing toilet paper? This is just really stupid. Thanks for the laugh today. Have a great day.

I'm originally from Marshalltown, and I have a confession to make. I once stole toilet paper, too. From a bathroom at the community collge, to use in a skit for English class. I'm pretty sure we put it back afterwards. I guess technically that would be borrowing. So...never mind.
