I just read an article that suggested that perhaps we need to get rid of the 2nd amendment to the constitution and just get rid of the guns that way. Here's the article http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=/Culture/archive/200706/CUL20070612a.html What do you think this would do?

The Bill of Rights are considered to be inalienable and unalterable. While new rights can be added, none can be taken away. To do so would then set a precedent that would lead to the unraveling of the rights that we as Americans hold dear...at least most of us do. There are some who think that our rights no longer apply or are for a time and circumstances that no longer exist. There are also people who seem to think that the Constitution is a living set of guidelines that should be changed at will. It is not. The Constitution is a set of limits that are imposed on government power, and protects the people from the government by preventing it from taking to much power. No, the 2nd Amendment should never be repealed, nor should any other part of the Constitution.

I think it is wrong. Once that take away one freedom it is easier to take away more. I would be against getting rid of the 2nd amendment.

I think the only politicians who would ever think of repealing the second amendment are crooked and forgot who they are there to serve. The purpose of the 2nd Amendment was to ensure the government never infringed on the right of We the People to be armed. Isn't it interesting that the politicians of today fear an armed populace, but the Founding Fathers welcomed one.

...exactly, Ted. We were given the right to bear arms to protect us from tyranny.
