ECW Title? Top contenders?

I'm sick of all the "McMahon" storyline posts. Let's get into REAL WWE business. With Bobby Lashley now in Raw minus the ECW Title. Who rises from that brand to take the title? Snitsky is also gone, so I think it will be a young gun. CM Punk, maybe? How about Chris Benoit, the Rabid Wolverine? Any members of the New Breed like Cor Von or Burke? Who do you think will be the champ?
I think it might be Cor Von or Burke. They are better on the mic than Benoit or Punk right now, although Punk is more over than anyone else in that brand? Who do you see as the next ECW Champ?

Personally, I would rather see the gold go to either CM Punk or Chris Benoit myself...RVD is still a good contender also... I definitely don't want anyone from the new breed to get their hands on it...

Anything could happen, that's for sure.
RVD's contract is up though towards the end of this month, and the WWE hasn't been able to re-sign him. All talk is that he'll take a break with his 90 day "non-competitive" clause and then head over to TNA (possibly with Sabu).
But Punk or Benoit would seem to be the best "face" choices for the title. Who knows with the WWE, you are totally right.

Let's look at this angle.....Edge changed brands to get the Heavyweight title, sooo what's stopping Bobby Lashley from going back to ECW and reclaiming the title?
It has to be someone the fans like and will get behind. Who does that leave, not many. CM Punk, Chris Benoit, RVD is sidelined.

I think in the long-term, the WWE wanted to push Lashley above the ECW Title. I mean, you only get pushed into an angle with the McMahon family when they want your star to rise, and Lashley's has done that since before Wrestlemania.
I don't know... it'll be interesting. I don't see the next ECW being a face character. I think Burke would be the logical choice for the time being, someone the fans can despise.

I think that Benoit will become the champion as he is a veteran and has more experience than most of the wrestlers in the ECW. There is still more supplemental drafting tomorrow so more people could be changing shows so we should stay tuned for that unless they decide to cancel that because of this staged McMahon act. The Boogeyman is also in the ECW now too so he could have a shot at the title.

You know, immediately following the match with Benoit and Lashley last night when Benoit got drafted to ECW, I immediately thought it would be him heading for it against Lashley (which would have been an excellent program). Now that Lashley is gone, I think that this does set the stage for Benoit, himself a former World Champion. I like the young guys, too... so anyone with Benoit would be a great program.

i think benoit or burke will be champions dont see cm punk as champion just yet. I frankly would love to see Chris Benoit as champion, hes the biggesr star in ecw right now and if anyone deserves another title reign it has to be benoit and i wouldnt mind seeing burke as champion either he can be very entertaining and is a great wrester.

When the draft first happened, I was sure it would be a Lashley/Benoit program for the ECW title. However, now that Lashley is heading to RAW, it would be interesting with Benoit. I think that Benoit, much like what he did with MVP, could be a mentor for a lot of the young guys in ECW.

I could see either Monty Brown (I like that name over Cor Won), Chris Benoit, Elijah Burke, or perhaps CM Punk getting the championship. Whoever it is needs to do some work and make that belt look really good. After the Vince Mcmahon reign, I think it's gonna need some serious rebuilding.

There will be a lot of rebuilding necessary. I just think the entire "McMahon" angle winning the ECW title did nothing for that brand and actually might have hurt the ECW title in the short-term.
I like Burke getting it. There's always the need for heel champions and I think that would come from Burke better than anyone else. Although giving it to CM Punk or Benoit would open the door for a New Breed feud with whoever the champion is. It could be polarizing for the entire roster of ECW.
