I wish someone had warned me before I became a mom, that there would be so many kid related expenses. From diapers and medical bills to Elmo and baby bouncers, the expenses are never ending. When my friends ask where our dreams of vacation in Europe went, I point to the preschool munchkin glumly. The ones who are moms understand completely. So, what is your biggest kid expense?

I think that most people are prepared for the birth of their child and the expenses that come with it such as diapers, formula ect. I would say besides that the biggest expense is in the teen years for sporting equiptment and fees for playing the sports. I have bought new football cleats and turf shoes, wrestling shoes, basketball shoes, paid for basketball tournaments and basketball camps, football camps also. These are expenses that I never thought about when I became a parent and they come every year!

Yes, and unfortunately the expenses never stop or get less, all to soon will be school with all the supplies and 2 pairs of shoes as well as if they must have transportation, then there are lunches, extras like swimming lessons, special trips entrance fees, and we are just talking kindergarten, So to make a long story short, it costs approximately 250 thousand dollars to raise a child to the age of 18, and this is a child with no special needs. There are ways of cutting back on some stuff, second hand clothing, walking, but all in all it still costs plenty. and you have what another 14 years to go. My granddaughter is going to be 7 in 5 days and her mom is a single mom, and I know it is a struggle every month. So you do have my sympathy and understanding.

i don't know that i'd consider my kids an "expense" and i certainly can't understand glumly pointing at a preschooler when asked where your dreams of vacation of europe went to. yes it costs to take care of children, it costs to take care of yourself so i feel it should have been no surprise. i'd say my biggest "expense" would be medical. i don't know what u expected, did u think that your bills and spending would remain the same after having children?
