How do you wear out your shoes?

I am going to have to get me a new pair of shoes as mine are starting to wear on the bottom.
Well, that got me thinking about the way shoes wear out. Mine tend to wear out on the outside where the sole meets the shoe.Or they will wear down more on that side than the insides.
I know why they wear out this way though. When I was born my feet were turned sole to sole. I was in NICU for some time due to other problems and they massaged my feet and when I got home, my mother massaged my feet. They would twist the foot into the correct position, and rub.
I do not have hardly any feet trouble from this, except for the way my shoes wear out!
So what part of your shoes do you wear out first?
Do you know why?

Mine tend to be the tips of my shoes since I got so use to doing gymnastics and was always on my toes then high heeled shoes. My heel very rarely touches the ground so I tend to wear out my sneakers in the front. Wierd how we can become so accustomed to some things. Has never really bothered me though. Maybe when I get older it will.

Well...I didn't EXACTLY wear out my shoes...our new puppy helped. She chewed up a fave pair of white flip flops and tan sandals. The Sandals are still wearable, they just look weird and hard to walk in lol. But I won't throw them out! O.o I had to throw out my white flip flops...:*(

LOL I have a dog that loves shoes! I once refused to buy a pair of shoes because she would not give me the box and a lid. If we didn't keep them in the box, he would chew them up!
And not just once did he do this. We lost quite a few shoes that summer!LOL

lol. I always get rid of my shoe boxes because we never had a problem with chewing until this new pup came along! Now I guess I'll learn from my mistakes lol.

The sneakers I have right now are a little beyond worn out because they're a year old! They wear is mostly in the heal with slightly more on the outerside. The toe area doesn't look too bad and most of the wear there is around the edges.

The biggest thing that wears out my shoes is running. I used to do track and run the 2 mile and 1 mile race and when I did cross country I had to run 2 miles on trails and through creeks. I was having to get new shoes ever 3 months! The first part to wear out was the padding on the heal and toe probably because that's where the most of my weight went to.

My shoes wear out on the inside up by my Big Toes , mainly cause I have Bunnions and that is where all the pressure is .
The bunnions were supposed to be removed when I stopped growing , but they call it cosmetic surgery now a days so it is only done if their causing problems ...
So i guess I`ll forever wear my shoes in the same spot ...

I only wear real shoes for special occasions, but it seems that depending on my sneakers, the soles are usually what get worn down first, mainly the heel area. I did have one pair of sneakers that split where the sole met the shoe, but it was the back of it. It probably gave out from the way I remove my sneakers off my feet.

It is a lot easier & faster to just use one foot & step on the heel of the other shoe or sneaker to remove from my foot, & then repeat for the other one. I still do that out of habit, but being that I am making an effort to make my shoes & sneakers last longer, I am trying to break that habit & use my hand to remove my footwear by holding the back of my shoe itself.
My way of doing that is to stand on one foot, & lift the other leg. Being that I can balance on one foot without much of a problem (Watching & trying these different things from kung fu movies helped that.), well, it helps me in making sure that I still have some coordination left.

I have never gotten a pair of shoes re-soled! But I guess that is because I wear sneakers or tennis shoes.
I do hope you get to see your kids soon. I also hope that the 'trouble' you were having has settled down. Please let me know! I am going to have to get your e-mail so I can keep up with you better!! I don't want to miss one little blond moment!

I've noticed that my shoes wear the same way yours do. I've had my heavy boots for a few years now (they're like slippers to me!) and I've noticed that the outside is worn more than the inside.
I notice more with my trainers, being softer they tend to 'lean over' on the soles toward the outsides.
It's interesting as I never really had any problems with my feet, so maybe I only notice because I keep my shoes for so long.

I recently had to replace my favourite pair of Vans. I had been wearing them constantly and they were worn out in tones of different places. I like to leave my shoes tied and slip them on to save time so the back at the heel are worn so far through that only the plastic is showing. My heels are a mess because of that. The bottoms are also ruined, they have little holes in them where stones have gathered. It was definately time to get a new pair!

You posed an interesting question and after thinking it over[ which tired me out] I realized my shoes don't wear out, they rot. I wonder why this is?

My shoes are connected to my feet and my feet are connected to me, which means my shoes are always knee deep in BS. I am sure you have already figured this out.

I wear out my shoes from the heel because i put my steps heavily on the ground. Secondly I use the heel with a leather sole..it is another thing time heals the wound. that was a nice question.......

i don't really wait for my shoes to wear out before buying myself a new one i have actually almost 30 pairs of them. i do this so i will be able to exchange from one pair of shoes to another every other day.
anyway, when i was little, i always have a favorite pair of shoes. even if i have other pairs i can wear, it's the one i wanna wear day after day. as far as i remember, it wore out from the bottom. i used to walk like i drag my feet instead of carrying it up. so, the soul of the shoes will slowly thin down.
i guess that's the best thing to explain it... anne

well my shoes wear out first at the soles, i think its because at times i tend to drag my leg on the ground.
I also do not have any feet trouble

My shoes don't wear out , they disintegrate disintegrate. Shoes are so expensive these days. I paid $150 for a decent pair of work shoes, or so I thought and they didn't last 12 months! I refuse to pay for expensive shoes but I love leather. I can shop at "Payless Shoes" and get value for my money but the seams break or the insides come away, I haven't worn out a pair of shoes for ages.

Well mine get warn out due to walking.
These days my wife and I walk nearly everywhere and my pair of trainers are getting very warn out.
It's mainly due to certain sports as well but I don't play much now but when I did a pair would last that long unless they was a top brand. (which is a reason I like nike and adidas)
Kudos,
~Joey

For me, it will normally be the soles. The soles always go first and in fact, only the soles.
If it is sports shoes, I just dump them, no choice really.
But if it is leather shoes, it will depend. I normally resole them if I like the shoes.
