I am now munching on a few squares of Lindt excellence Cuba 55% fine dark cocoa... Mmmm...
Tagged as 'surprisingly subtle', and 'tropical fruit note' on its packaging, it almost seems like gourmet wine instead of chocolate.
Apart from Lindt, the other fine chocolate brands I've had the privilege to enjoy are Godiva and Neuhaus - both Belgian brands. Godiva pralines are too expensive in my opinion (one friend bought 8 for $40 or $50 once) but actually much cheaper when bought in Belgium. Neuhaus (hope i got the spelling right) is a slightly more affordable brand and no less yummy to me. Think of delicately crafted dark chocolate melting in your mouth with the smooth centre of chopped nuts oozing out. Heavenly.
A friend who worked at a hotel bought me a box of handmade chocolate squares with green tea flavours and other unique stuff. So tiny, yet so wonderful.
Do you purchase chocolate pralines or fine chocolate bars like Lindt regularly to satisfy your chocolate cravings?
Sometimes slightly more ordinary chocolate can be very good too. I visited a Cadbury factory and apart from viewing an awesome ton of chocolate (literally) fall 3 storeys from a large metal trough, I stocked up on tons of Cadbury too. The 'gold' series of dark chocolate with macadamia is exceptionally good. yummmmmm.... another one I like is ferrero rocher - can eat one after the other if no one stops me!
Ok I shall shut up - could go on forever about chocolate. (:

I love chocolate infact I think I have chocolate running through my veins, I had a great grandmather, a grandmother, an aunt and a neice who worked in the chocolate industry, MacRobertson, Rowntree and Chocoletier, so I have had a lot of different chocoltes in my life but I still think you can't beat Cadbury, I think it is the best although I would never knock any of them back....:)

Sorry, I have no knowledge of 'gourmet chocolate' - I am a chocoholic and will take any I can get. This all sounds just so yummy right now - I have no chocolate in the house.

Oh no, can't keep a supply - I've tried, it's impossible, if it's in the house I will find it and eat it. I did however have my daughter bring me home a Snickers bar when she went to the store just after I read this discussion :)

hmmm... chocolates... I love chocolate!
Generally, I like the belgium chocolates better than the local brands.
I know what you mean... that feeling of satisfaction when a good piece of chocolate melts in your mouth, filling it with the chocolaty goodness. That lingering after taste after you swallow it... mm-mmmmm! Just thinking about it makes my mouth waters! ;p
Godiva? have yet to try that brand yet. Any idea where we can get some?

Actually my favorite brand of chocolate is not gourmet at all. I don't know it's brand but you can buy it in Japan off the shelf. It's individually wrapped plain dark chocolate. The size is really small too, just a small bite size but I like it because it's really chocolatey and does not taste too sweet.
