This book is wicked! In a good way!

This book is wicked - In fact, the whole 'ology' series of books is super cool, whatever your age is!

I just picked up The Wandmakers Guidebook for my kids and am very impressed with it. Have you seen these type of books before? We already have some from the 'Ology' series, like Egyptology, Dragonology, and Wizardology. They all come with additional work books, and each page is crammed not only with information, but all sorts of little flaps and envelopes filled with surprises. This new one we got The Wandmakers, is full of 'journal entries' and subject headings like, "Care and Keeping of a Wand", and "Harnessing the Power of Nature: Herbs, Plants and Trees". It has star charts, and includes stories of mythical wandmakers and provides not only step by step instructions to the learner, but a wooden wand and various ingredients to customize it. I love these books, and while they are a bit pricey, I think they are well worth the money and the kids fight over who gets to look at them first. Do you have any of these types of books? I think they really fire up the kids' imaginations.

Heck--never mind kids...I think I want to get those books for myself..they sound right up my alley...I just love children's books..read more of them than "adult" books--I'm going to check right now over at Amazon.com..sometimes they're cheaper there--and yes...amazing how children's books can be so expensive!!

Sounds like they really are fantastic books honey! I don't think I have come across them but I will keep my eyes open! My kids have every type of book and love them all - if I have passed anything on to them it is surely a love of books, reading and learning! xx

Definately keep you r peeps open. I got the Wizardology at Amazon.uk I think it was Piratology they came out with last Christmas, which is the newest one as far as I know. I am not sure where this one I got falls in the timeline, because it is made by a rival company. All the ones I have seen are very well done, anyhow.

havinmg a 6 and 8 year old grandsons I'll have to look into the various bookstores around me for these. I think they may enjoy these a lot. I haven't heard nor seen them here. But then I don't visit bookstores often. I buy paperback books for the wife and I and usually never see the childrens books. That's because we take them to the local library ever so often when they visit. Thanks for a great weekend idea with my grandsons. Hahaha! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Egyptian Art - This is from Egypt. It is done on a piece of some type of cloth in a frame also. Ther's many others also. I love these art work pieces alot.
My wifes boss is from Egypt. So that country is of interest to me. Here's a photo of a piece of art he has from Egypt hanging in the restaraunt that my wife works at. What company are these "ology" books made by?

Hiya GB, on the back of the Egyptology book it says Templar Publishing and gives this web address: www.egyptology1926.com , www.dragonology.com , and www;wizardology.com . They are all by Templar Publishing. The wand maker is by Scholastic and published by Tangerine Press. I hope you can track some down. Pye found them really cheap at Amazon.

Hello pigeon, both my girls are book lovers. I have never heard nor seen any of the books you mentioned though. It sounds interesting and I'm sure my girls will benefit from it. Need to check this on the website or look through the local bookstores. Thank you for sharing this one.

You are welcome. I wonder if there wasn't much distribution world wide. I hope that is not the case because these are the sort of books that will get kids reading and looking forward to the next one.

It doe sound like a nice book I'll have to look for it on amazon, it might fit in my pagan book shop (an amazon astore I started). It's great to see there are so many books on these kinds of subjects now it used to be hard to find quality ones.

That sounds interesting. I've been thinking of starting up a collection of books for my future grandchild. It'll be awhile before he or she can read them, but books never go out of style. I'll check these out.
