What persuades you to give a person a positive/negative feedback?

What are some of the main reasons you would give for giving someone a positive/negative feedback? do you try to give feedback to everyone you see, only the people in your discussions or only the people you think deserve it? do you tend to give positive feedback to lengthier replies/discussions? or people you agree with? do you give + to people who have a good argument against what your saying? do you give negative feedback to those you don't agree with? (which i disagree is not good to do) what are some ways people (including me lol) can get a + from you? so can you help me out?

I give positive feedback for good points, and composition whether I agree with them or not. Especially something really thought out, insightful or just plain really honest. I get the negative sign out for spammers who just copy and paste articles without adding anything to them, responses that are completely and utterly off topic and rude, etc. Oh and those folks who create 47 thousand posts on the same topic that are the same thing.

I made it a practice to respond to everyone who has responded to my discussion. It is a courtesy and by way I have come across so many smart people.I like witty and wise responses and discussions a lot. Then I tend to help the new comers who don't know even the basics of my lot.I give pluses and best responses to the ones that are appealing and appropriate to my discussions.

I enjoy reading posts and even half decent effort gets positive rating from me. As i look for good contribution to discussions whether the fellow mylotian disagrees with me or not is not na issue. And at most times i would give positive feedback. Except when someone is spamming, copy and pasting someone's else discussions, is abusive in one's posts. I try to give feedback to my discussions though with limited success will try to do better. happy mylotting.:)

I always give a positive feedback. The only time I don't is when they are in voilation of the my lot rules and guidelines.

I always give plus ratings to everyone. People do not deserve any negative ratings. There are already too many negatives in other's lives. I do not wish to add any more.

I give positive feed back for every response that is a valid response. People who respond nonsense or are way off topic I just don't give feed back to. the only way to get a negative response from me is to be abusive to me or someone else responding to my topic.

For me I give a positive rating to the person that answered my discussion with an honest answer that makes sence and actually answeres my discussion without being judgemental. I rate every discussion I respond to with a positive rating.

i rate positive most people who join my discussion just as way to say: thank you. I rate positive some discussions what have impressed me with something. I rate negative rarely, i use the negative vote for spammers and 1-liners, for people who are totally off topic and just come to my discussion to promote their sites and blogs/ tired of this/.

I generally tend to be picky about where I post. If I don't have any interest or something to add, then I probably won't. However, I figure that if I do responsd to a discussion, I should give that poster a positive mark, considering they're giving me something decent to reply to. If it's my own discussion, I will mark a positive to those who put thought in their response, even if it's not necessarily helpful. The only time I give out a negative is if someone's being obnoxious, rude to another user, or posting nonsense just to get a penny or whatever; otherwise, I do nothing. Sometimes, if I'm reading someone else's discussion, whether I respond or not, and see someone else who has given a nice, detailed response, I will give them a positive, especially if I find it helpful.

Thought I'd add, in case someone decides to have a go at me lol, that the nothing part of my statement meant that I will not mark either positive or negative to someone responding to my topic if it a) has nothing to do with the discussion, b) doesn't make sense, c) one-worded response or just posting to post (ex: I don't know...). Yeah...

I always read each answer though I tend to miss some. I rate them based on the response whether it is good and related to the subject/discussion which can benefit lots of people. Also, I dont really give lots of negative feedbacks, only to those who answers disrespectfully or I think that their posts are not necessary.

I don't give negative ratings to responses, if i got any response which does not contribute in my discussion say out of the topic, i just leave it without (+) or (-) rate. For the rest of responses no matter how long or short it is as long as it has good point of idea i give (+) rating. In some case, even the response does not agree with me, i still give (+) rating, for everyone has their own opinion.

I always give any discussion I answer a + and will give a plus to any answer that someone gives to me that relates to what I am talking about even if it disagrees with what I am asking as I feel that each of us are entitled to our own opinions and have to realize that we are not all going to feel the same way . I have given very few - since I joined on MyLot and the only time I can say that I will give a - is when I come across a topic where someone has cheated or attacked someone for absolutely no reason what so ever . We can disagree with someone but that does not mean we should ever attack anyone for no reason . On the most part I would say that I always give a + when I answer a topic or when someone replies to a topic I start .

I admit that I'm rather bad about leaving feedback. Having said that, I have only ever once left negative feedback when some one was trying to pick a fight with me. she was arguing STUPID points & I finally quit the discussion because of it.

I give positive feedback if I am inspired to respond to the discussion. I don't have to agree with the topic I feel that if they have motivated me to respond then they did their job and it is worth a positive feed back. If it is written extremely poorly with bad language then I not only don't give feedback I don't responed. So it is either a positive or nothing with me. I don't give a negative. I have to really think about why I would give a negative?

honestly, i do not give negative ratings to anyone here in mylot. should there be responses that are rude, copied and pasted and spammed i usually attach a comment below their responses, sort of advice to remind them that they might be breaking some rules or guidelines in mylot and possibly be banned. but mostly, i rate all responses positive either aggreable or disagreeable because i highly respect anybody's opinions.

if the user is honest and is trying to answer a question or give some good advise that are logical i give them a good feedback.
