I'm on a diet, but only every other day.

I've heard that you can speed up your metabolism by sticking to your diet every other day. The concept is that your body speeds up to burn the excess calories when you eat more. And, continues to burn calories at a faster rate, even when you go back to eating fewer calories. So you lose more weight. I've only been doing this for a week, so I can't tell if it's working. I guess it'll take a while. Have you ever tried this weight loss method before? Did it work?

I have heard of something similar, but not exactly what you are saying. I have read that you should follow weight watchers one day and atkins the next. This way you shake up your system and it speeds up your metabolism. I have never tried it, but would love to know if it really works.

I've never tried that but if done correctly I don't see how it couldn't work. As long as you don't stuff yourself with the 'junk'; just a few bites. What I do is take a few bits of something when my stomach growls and then I wait until it growls again. Seems to work well for me but I do have my 'junk' a few times a week. What is important is drinking lots of water and some sort of exercise that gets your heart rate up a bit every day or other day. Concentrate on losing the inches first to where your clothes start to feel better and you'll be proud of yourself and able to stick to the program you've chosen.

I have not tried it. But once in a while I do have a day where I eat more fruits and veggies. I suppose it is the same as weight lifting one day and running another. However I do not know what kind of diet you are following to make a judgment call.
