I can't believe that our government hasn't made a move to do more regulation of the big oil companies. This is more true than ever since some of them have been scooped up by foreign oil companies. Why should we allow these huge profits to be put into the pockets of other nations? It's time for our leaders to quit worrying about making a buck off of their oil holdings and stand up for the American consumer.
Really, this has got to stop. Having a company like BP earn 10 billion a quarter in profits is ridiculous when the households of many families are suffering because gas is essential to commute to work and other life needs. One could argue that people could just move closer to things. This kind of change requires years to happen.
We have been enticed to the suburbs and even more rural areas for decades. Now, this crisis has many over a barrel. It's time for those who are suffering to stand up and yell for attention. If it's a refinery shortage, then let's get some built. It's not really an oil shortage because oil prices have been levelling off and dropping lately.
Speak up if you're on this horse. As more people are heard, more will be done.

I recently read that some companies are making a 35 billion dollar profit, that is right 35 BILLION dollar profit, now where do you make that kind of profit in a world that is short of oil? off you customers. I copied and pasted this blurb from US today setting annual profits (in billions):
Exxon Mobil $36.1 2005
Exxon Mobil $25.3 2004
Citigroup $24.6 2005
Ford Motor $22.1 1998
Exxon Mobil $21.0 2003

Am I the only one that sees something wrong with this picture? I think not
