My son's first birthday party is this Saturday. We decided to share his party with his 2 cousins, who are older, since their birthdays are so close to his. My son's theme is Curious George. The 2 other children kinda have their own themes going. We are basically doing 3 partys in one.
Anyway, I was just curious (no pun intended) as to what other people have done for first birthday partys.

my first child was scooby ( almost 7 yrs ago) and my 2nd was dora ( 2 yrs ago) i think you jsut kind of go with what their really into at that age. the usual elmo, pooh barney, dora, blues clues etc etc but each year the theme defintely changes and grows with them.

That is so true about the theme growing with the child each year. I think the first couple years you pretty much pick it yourself and after that they want to choose.

My son's first birthday is next month and I need ideas too! My sister had a Cars theme party...it was really cute. I think curious george is a good idea too and there are plenty of party favors for that theme as well. I still can't decide what I want to do for my son! He is our little monkey though! :)

That is exactly how we came up with our theme! My husband started calling our son 'his little monkey' since day one. And pretty much at birth, I knew what I wanted his party theme to be. Initially, I couldn't find any Curious George stuff at the stores, so I looked on ebay. I bought all of our stuff off of there. Then we were picking up last minute stuff last weekend, and the party store was selling all kinds of Curious George items. I bought a few more things that I didn't have. It's so exciting!

My son loves Cars. He has been our little froggy. Maybe we should have done a Kermit or Jim Henson party...lol.
Funny how we give animal nicknames.

We didn't really do too much of a theme for my son's first birthday. We were planning on having a party for him right after his birthday, and my family was going to come up, but then about a month before his birthday, my husband's grandmother passed away so we had to go home. My parents had a small party for him there, and then gave us some of the money they had planned on using to come see us, so we wouldn't be so broke with coming up with all the money ourselves.
My sister made my son a Blue's Clues cake, and my sister in law and my mom put up blue and white streamers and balloons. So I guess if I had to say a theme, it was Blue's Clues. There weren't any other little kids there, just two of my sisters, one of them's fiance, and my husband's sister and two cousins, along with both sets of grandparents and one of my aunts. We just ate pizza (my baby's favorite at the time) and had cake and ice cream, and my son got to open most of his presents.

My daughter had her 1st birthday party just last Sunday, we went with a Pooh theme, i went with that for her nursery, most of her toys & movied are Pooh related so we figured that was the best way to go since she'd associate with it.
We didn't do heaps for her 1st birthday because it was only a small gathering & she wouldn't remember it anyway but she had a cake with Eeyore on it, a Pooh candle, there was a Pooh banner behind her & a Pooh balloon on the table next to her cake.
Just keep it simple i think!

That sounds like a really good party! Our party is tomorrow and I'm so excited for it. We sat up all of the stuff today, and got the food together. I think it will be a good gathering. Your right about keeping it simple though. We did do a little bit extra this time though since we are doing his 2 little cousins party with his. I hope tomorrow is a good day for us!

My sons first party was trains, planes and automobiles. My daughters was pink poodles and turned out so cute.
Curious George is so cute too. I loved the movie.
