I was reading the news just now to see if there was anything of interest to write about. The news is much to sad and over-whelming for me, at this point. I read about the therapist who melested countless mentally disabled children, Ruth Graham is close to death, Lady bleeds to death on the floor of the emergency room at Martin Luther King General hospital, a cop that participated in the beating of a retired school teacher, after Hurricane Katrina, has committed suicide. Now, all I want to know is if someone has some good news to report. I don't care if it is in the local, national, international, or your own personal life, I just want to hear something good. I have had a long hard day and there seem to be no pick me ups in sight.

About 2 years ago, I lost my job of over 22 years due to a resource action. Now, I am at a job that pays substantially less, but I learned today, that they are have received all kinds of monies to do some major expanding. Which means that I will continue to be employed through my retirement. The job is in an industry that has a high demand for people. I agree the news is depressing.

I am very happy to hear that you have job security, this is good news also. Although, I don't understand what you mean by continue to be employed through your retirement. I know that some people go back to work, after retirement, but do you ever plan to retire completely. I hope so. It seems like it would be hard to work all those years and not be able to look forward to retirement.

To live where I live, I could never afford to retire. I am planning to retire from this job, sell my house and move to somewhere cheaper to live...then partially retire

Good news, our daughter is coming home for fathers day. She lives an hour away but she is so busy we do not see her very much.

This is truly a blessing that a lot of parents take for granted. It is good to know that your daughter is taking time out to be with her family on such a special occassion. Not only is she coming home, but she is coming because she wants to. She wants to celebrate her father and how good he was to her growing up. This says a whole lot. You and your husband should take a bow for being such good parents, congradulations.

I will be going to North Carolina for vacation in a few weeks so that is good news at least for me as well as my Philadelphia Phillies playing well and getting close to first place. I may also be buying a new car this weekend. It does seem like anything you hear on the news is always bad news or something tragic happening. Rarely do we see any good news on tv or newspaper or radio. The gas prices have gone down where I live a bit so that is good news too and hopefully they are going down where you live.

Now see, I could sit and listen to you for and hour and know for sure that all news is not bad news. I am happy for all the wonderful blessings in your life. Now, don't forget to give glory to God.

Millions of teenagers volunteered this week! Millions of teenagers have never shot anyone! Millions of kids weren't molested... ever! Millions of soldiers didn't get killed or wounded today... and most of them got mail from home this week! In most U.S. Cities, no one was murdered this year. How's that for some great headlines? ;~D

You should consider writing for a greeting card company. Your post just cheered me right up.

I agree, the news can be overwhelming. But that is because the media is so set on reporting the sensational, which is usually bad. Ok, good news: I got a new dog! We have two already, but they have chosen as 'their' humans my husband and my daughter. My daughter and I volunteer at the SPCA, so we were at this event over the weekend, and I found a dog of my very own. She bonded to me instantly. So now we have a home full of love and devotion and happy wagging tails! Never underestimate the healing power of pets.

This is very good news indeed. It is interesting how pets take to some and not others. I guess all species have their preferences. It is nice to have pets and to give them a home. It is also wonderful to hear that you are volunteering your time with the animals. I knew that there was some good news out there somewhere.
