When I was in high school, I had to carry my books for all 7 classes with me everywhere I went. Thankfully two of my classes only have a classroom set of books, and one class rarely required us to take the book to class. Still that left me with 4 textbooks and 6 notebooks to carry, because my locker was in a building I didn't have any classes in, and I wasn't allowed to go to it during my lunch break. Now many schools don't have lockers for security reasons. My mom commented that the text books are much bigger than when she was in school because they have so many photos and illustrations in them.
Luckily at college, very few classes require that I bring my text book to class, which makes getting around easier.

when i was in my early schooling, i was among the ones who had the heaviest bags. everything that i brought was needed in school. Failing to bring any of those could lead me to being scolded by my teacher or worse, asking my seatmate (a competitor) to share his. It's alright to have the heavy stuffs for as long as you have a school service that could somehow mend the difficulty of lifting the bags (thanks to the driver). as for me and for the vast majority, i didn't have the opportunity to avail this tiny piece of luxury so i went through all the pains of dropping on and off the vehicle when commuting. well, that at least makes my studying oh-so-worthy... :)
