What do you think about home for the aged or retirement homes?

Have you ever decided to place your parents in retirement homes? Or in the future, when your parents get really old, will you take care of them, or choose to put them in retirement homes where other people will look after them? How about you, would you want your children to place you in one, or would you prefer if your kids take care of you personally?

Although I kept my mother home with me as long as I could, there came a time when it was better that she be in the nursing home, where someone would be with her 24 hours a day, It helped because I worked at the same nursing home, so I saw her everyday and I knew exactaly how she was being taken care of.

that's nice to know that even if your mother was in the nursing hoem, you still get to see her everyday since you worked at the same place. Thanks for your response mrsbrian. Have a wonderful day! =D

i will never place my parents in a retirement home.. id like them to stay at home and me taking care of them, with a nurse to fully help me.. guess its the most respectful thing to do to repay them and show them our gratitude and love.. and also i prefer my kids to take care of me and not be placed also in a retirement home..

hello masterviajero! it's nice to know that we share the same opinion. I too, would not place my parents in a home. I'd rather take care of them. we owe so much to our parents, and taking care of them when they are old is just one tiny gesture of our gratitude and love for them. =D
