while i was on my way home the other day, the public vehicle that i was riding was clogged in a traffic. there was this 15-year old boy. he was so thin and pale. from his torn large t-shirt,no slippers, soil all over his body and unpleasant smell, you could tell that he had not taken a bath for a long time. he was carrying a baby boy who had no lower garments and wore only stained shirt which could barely cover his big belly.he climbed the vehicle and asked all the 16 of us inside for some change so that he can buy some food. some people told him things like: 'why don't you work? we worked hard for our money. why would we give it to you? we know that crap, you're a drug addict. you'll spend it somewhere else.' i gave him some coins and the others too. he thanked everyone and when he stepped down the vehicle, there were 3 kids who were running after him calling him 'kuya' (it means brother).they all rushed to a nearby store and the boy bought 2 packs of instant noodles and (i think) half-kilo of rice. this is a sad scenario. we know that there are cautions from some people not to give money to beggars. it will just tolerate them. Instead, give them food or give them employment. it's hard to tell who needs help from the one who doesn't. i set a self-made rule for this one. i would give food if i have it that time but money in case i don't. i helped in the best way that i could but it depends on them where they would spend or use it. what are your views?

I always feel good whenever I helped others. But you are right, it is hard to tell who the real beggars are. But still if I have some money in my pocket, I don't hesitate to give them some.
